About The Position

Rates and designs benefits for largest and most complex groups. Serves as primary contact to stop loss vendors. PACE Underwriters - one of BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina’s subsidiary companies. While this position is open for remote work, we prefer talent local to the Carrollton, Texas area. Typical work hours are Monday - Friday from 8am - 5pm CST. This position is not eligible for sponsorship now or in the future.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or 4 years job related work experience or Associate's and 2 years job related work experience
• 5 Years underwriting experience.
• Excellent organizational, customer service, oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent mathematical, analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Good judgment.
• Ability to handle confidential or sensitive information with discretion.
• Proficient spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
• Extensive knowledge of underwriting and risk principles and their application.
• Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree-Accounting, Finance, Business or Healthcare Administration, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field
• 7 Years-underwriting experience.
• Insurance course work in FLMI, HIAA, or BCA.
• Knowledge of database software and computer systems support.
• Prior Ugan experience.

Responsibilities

• Determines the acceptability of new group risk.
• Generates proposals.
• Completes pre-reviews on new groups and rate reviews on renewals.
• May process and complete ERISA reporting.
• Trains and advises less experienced underwriters.
• Serves as a liaison to other departments concerning underwriting issues.
