Requirements

  • Holds a bachelor’s degree or any other relevant academic background.
  • Brings 8+ years of experience in individual life underwriting or in a similar role.
  • Is recognized for strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, including the ability to assess medical and non‑medical information to make accurate underwriting decisions.
  • Stands out for their ability to negotiate, organize, and manage multiple priorities in a high‑volume environment.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills and a customer‑focused mindset, delivering high‑quality work under tight deadlines.
  • Has an excellent oral and written communication skills in English

Responsibilities

  • Analyze complex life, health, and disability cases by applying established underwriting rules.
  • Negotiate the best possible offer with reinsurers to ensure competitive, client‑centered outcomes.
  • Examine, assess, and propose solutions for more complex files.
  • Act as a coach to less experienced underwriters.
  • Collaborate with IT teams and Business Analysts as an expert in the implementation of a new underwriting automation system.
