About The Position

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) is seeking an experienced underwriter to join our growing admitted middle market business. This role is responsible for underwriting, developing, and establishing broker relationships while building a profitable Middle Market portfolio. The position is located in our Atlanta, GA office.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years of multi-line underwriting experience
Demonstrated critical thinking and the ability to build underwriting and market acumen
Strong desire to build and thrive in a fast-growing, evolving, and high-energy team environment
Demonstrated diligence, creativity, and collaboration across levels and disciplines
Ability to prioritize, multitask, and make timely decisions while maintaining underwriting integrity
Strong communication skills, including negotiation and presentation capabilities
Collaborative team player who brings creative, practical solutions to resolve issues

Responsibilities

Build and grow a profitable, multi-line admitted book of business in partnership with retail agents and brokers
Partner with internal stakeholders (Marketing, Loss Control, Claims, Actuarial, and Product) to deliver consistent, well-reasoned underwriting outcomes
Develop, maintain, and service strong relationships with retail brokers
Balance speed and discipline by making sound underwriting decisions while managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
Help shape the future of the operation by providing feedback on distribution, processes, underwriting approach, and appetite to continuously refine our craftsmanship
