About The Position

Nationwide is hiring a remote Senior Territory Production Underwriter for its Commercial Lines team, focused primarily on middle market accounts, especially construction services. The role manages the Michigan territory and includes travel to key agency relationships, potentially with heavy travel and extended stays. The underwriter markets, manages, and underwrites business through direct contact with select agencies and brokers, with responsibility for achieving production, profitability, and service objectives. Success requires analytical judgment, entrepreneurial drive, and the ability to build and maintain agency relationships while collaborating with internal partners to grow Nationwide’s presence. The role evaluates complex accounts and territory performance, manages underwriting workflow, and develops and executes agency and territory business plans. It also supports agency growth through marketing, sales strategy, business development, risk-management guidance, and service. The position reports to a Director. It is exempt and not eligible for overtime. Most incumbents work remotely; travel is required, and a valid driver’s license and safe driving record are required. The position does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization, and Nationwide does not participate in the STEM OPT Extension program.
