About The Position

As a Mid‑Market Senior Underwriter, you will evaluate and underwrite complex employee benefits cases in the 1,000–4,999 life range, using sound judgment to drive profitable growth and long‑term customer retention. You’ll apply advanced underwriting expertise, anticipate market and economic trends, and develop strategic solutions that support the health of the overall block of business. This role also serves as a subject‑matter expert and mentor within the Regional Accounts and Mid‑Market underwriting teams, helping elevate team capability and decision quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 6+ years of progressively responsible experience in employee benefits underwriting.
  • Strong proficiency in underwriting guidelines, procedures, contract provisions, and state insurance statutes.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate complex risk and make sound, strategic decisions.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting the development of other underwriters.
  • Familiarity with mid‑market or regional account underwriting environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to AI tools—such as Microsoft Copilot—is a plus.
