Senior UI/UX Designer

CynclyUnited States,
$50,000 - $145,000Remote

About The Position

This is a pivotal role for a designer who thinks in systems. As Cyncly's Senior UX/UI Designer — Design Systems, you will lead the creation and stewardship of a unified design language across our global product portfolio. You will work in close partnership with the Head of UX Design, product designers, and engineering teams to build a design system that scales — one that is component-rich, token-driven, accessible by default, and genuinely adopted across the business. This is a hands-on role with strategic reach. You will be crafting components yourself, defining usage standards, and advocating for design system adoption while influencing the wider product experience. You will champion consistency and quality without sacrificing the flexibility individual product teams need to move fast.

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of UX/UI design experience, with at least 3 years in a dedicated design systems or design infrastructure role, ideally within a B2B SaaS or enterprise software environment.
  • Demonstrable experience building and scaling a design system from early foundations — including component libraries, token systems, and contribution frameworks.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Figma, including component variants, auto-layout, design tokens (via Variables or third-party plugins), interactive prototyping, and library management.
  • Strong understanding of front-end implementation constraints — comfortable working directly with engineers using HTML, CSS, and component-based frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, or Web Components).
  • Solid working knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards and the ability to embed accessible design patterns into system components at the specification stage.
  • Experience establishing governance processes for a design system — versioning, deprecation, contribution guidelines, and change communication.
  • Skilled at documenting design intent clearly: writing usage guidelines, annotation specs, and decision rationale that engineering teams can act on without ambiguity.
  • Experience conducting design audits, building component inventories, and producing prioritised system roadmaps aligned to product and business needs.
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills — able to bring designers and engineers along on system decisions without formal authority over product teams.
  • Comfortable working with globally distributed teams, navigating different time zones, working styles, and varying levels of design maturity across squads.

Nice To Haves

  • A degree in a relevant field such as Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related discipline is preferred. Equivalent professional experience demonstrating the same depth of knowledge will equally be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end design and evolution of Cyncly's design system — from foundations (colour, typography, spacing, iconography, and motion) through to complex interactive component patterns.
  • Build and maintain a scalable token architecture that bridges design and engineering, ensuring parity between Figma component libraries and front-end implementation.
  • Define and document component specifications, usage guidelines, accessibility requirements, and interaction patterns in a format engineering teams can act on directly.
  • Partner with front-end engineers to deliver design system components that meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards and are framework-agnostic or aligned to Cyncly's chosen tech stack.
  • Audit existing product UIs across the portfolio to identify inconsistencies, establish a component inventory, and create a prioritised roadmap for system coverage.
  • Collaborate with product designers across squads to gather requirements, validate new patterns, and ensure the system grows through real product needs rather than in isolation.
  • Establish governance processes — including contribution models, versioning, deprecation workflows, and change communication — so the system remains trusted and maintainable at scale.
  • Champion accessibility and inclusive design throughout the system, ensuring that compliance is built in at the component level, not bolted on after the fact.
  • Evangelise the design system internally — running enablement sessions, creating Figma documentation, and supporting designers and developers in adopting the system effectively.
  • As the team grows, help define the design systems function — contributing to hiring decisions, mentoring junior designers, and shaping how design quality is measured across Cyncly.
