About The Position

Corporate Strategy seeks a Senior U.S. Defense Acquisition Strategic Analyst to drive, lead and partner across the enterprise to develop strategic landscape assessments, deliver actionable insights, and support cross-functional information and knowledge-sharing on developments and trends in defense acquisition policy and practices. This position is part of the Enterprise Strategic Studies (ESS) Directorate whose charter is to drive business growth by analyzing emerging geopolitical trends, customer mission and budget needs, and new entrant and competitor positioning, with the purpose of developing actionable OneLM strategies. The selected candidate will be required to be near a Lockheed Martin site.

Requirements

  • 8 years of experience in U.S. defense acquisition, including requirements, programming and planning, and adaptive acquisition program execution.
  • In-depth understanding of defense acquisition statute and policies (e.g., FAR, DFARS, DoDI 5000 series), taxonomy, and acquisition transformation initiatives.
  • Demonstrated understanding of acquisition life-cycle phases, requirements definition, and program acquisition strategy formulation including solicitation methods, contracting approaches, and pricing of complex systems.
  • Familiarity with strategy, capture, program management, business development, engineering, contracting, finance, and sustainment operations.
  • Knowledge of the U.S. defense industrial base.
  • Strong leadership and executive communication skills, with the ability to drive results and build consensus across multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional project management skills, with experience managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to translate complex issues into actionable strategic recommendations and present them to senior leaders through compelling, concise presentations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to construct, gather, and analyze complex data sets and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Responsive, trusted, customer and enterprise-wide relationships.
  • Knowledge of current and developing technologies and analysis methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating compelling written, verbal, and visual narratives that convey mission and business value to senior executives.
  • Demonstrated experience proactively developing and maintaining effective relationships and partnerships with colleagues and senior executives.
  • Secret Security Clearance
  • Must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of emerging defense technologies (e.g., autonomous systems, AI/ML, cyber‑electronic warfare) and how they affect acquisition and budgeting
  • Familiarity with defense missions spanning JADC2, Contested Logistics, Information Advantage, Joint Fires & Effects.
  • Experience with scenario building and trend analysis
  • Knowledge of customer needs, decision calculus and processes at the senior military and political ranks.
  • Knowledge of commercial business models and go-to-market strategy development
  • Prior exposure to competitive intelligence or market‑analysis functions
  • Business acumen and willingness to deepen knowledge of business decision processes and environments and global markets and trends.
  • Recognized as an authority in defense acquisition practices, with the demonstrated ability to apply it to a wide range of complex scenarios, and capacity train others in its application.
  • Background as a Defense Acquisition University and/or similar professional development instructor experience.
  • Certifications such as PMP, CBA (Certified Business Analyst), or DoD‑specific acquisition certifications (e.g., DAS, Direct Hire Authority)
  • Master’s degree in a related field (MBA)
