About The Position

The Senior Trust Officer will be an integral member of the TRB Trust team and will be based in the Memorial branch in Houston, TX. In this role, the Trust Officer will be responsible for administering trust accounts for relationships across the state of Texas. The Senior Trust Officer will manage a portfolio of trusts, estates, IRAs and other fiduciary accounts in accordance with governing documents, applicable laws, regulations and company policies. They will play a key role collaborating with Trust & Wealth Management leadership to enhance and streamline TRB Trust Division operations and contribute to strategic decision making. This role serves as the primary relationship manager for trust beneficiaries, grantors, attorneys, accountants, and other advisors. The Senior Trust Officer is expected to support and collaborate with other trust officers in responding to client requests, preparing for meetings, and conducting research and analysis on accounts where the trust officer may not be the primary trust administrator. They will exercise appropriate fiduciary discretion regarding distributions, investments, tax matters, and administrative decisions, and collaborate with external advisors, legal counsel, asset managers and other professionals as needed. A working knowledge of financial and trust accounting principles is required to work collaboratively with TRB Wealth Management advisors and associates and other internal professionals to ensure thoughtful portfolio and asset management. The Senior Trust Officer is expected to be comfortable with prospective clients and help develop new business and build the brand for TRB across all regions. Staying updated on current developments within the fiduciary landscape and a willingness to continually learn and improve are essential. The role also involves supporting and promoting the Bank vision, mission and core values, organizational structure and policies and procedures. Excellent analysis, observation and decision-making skills are necessary, with the ability to be highly focused, rapidly determine key priorities, clearly communicate them and ensure resources are properly aligned. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills are necessary for maintaining effective relationships with Board members, officers, employees, and members of the business and civic community. The ability to remain composed in high pressure or stressful situations is important. Providing strong, compassionate and visible leadership, which fosters positive attitudes and trust among employees, customers, and prospects, is expected. Compliance with federal and state regulations, as well as all established Bank policies and procedures, is required. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Four-Year College Degree with emphasis in Business, Accounting, or Finance
  • 5+ years of Trust Administration experience
  • Outstanding analytical skills with the ability to exercise independent judgment
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with senior management on a regular basis
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Must be able to be physically present in the Bank to perform job duties.
