About The Position

Performance Driven Workforce (PDW) is seeking Full-time Senior Traveling Electrical Technicians for an automotive Tier 1 supplier. This role involves building, reworking, testing, repairing, and installing wiring harnesses on vehicles and the bench, following instructions from blueprints, bill of materials, schematics, or piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID). The technician will also perform quality checks on wiring harnesses, mentor team members on technical deliverables, and ensure standards are met. The position is based in Allen Park, MI, with an AM day shift and overtime as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 8 years of electrical work experience
  • Broad knowledge of vehicle systems (powertrain, chassis, electrical, thermal, exteriors, interiors, etc.) and related components, component materials & fasteners
  • Mechanical aptitude with basic understanding of automotive systems with ability to crimp and solder wires
  • Proficient with hand and power tools
  • Able to operate vehicle lifts
  • MUST be able to read and utilize schematics for electrical rework
  • Rework electrical harnesses and diagnose electrical problems
  • Proficient electrical and electronic troubleshooting skills and ability to understand electronic schematics and electronic part documentation
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of MS Office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook

Nice To Haves

  • Certificate in Automotive Electrical Technology or related
  • National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification(s)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Experience installing components on circuit boards
  • Experience with automotive powertrain systems or electric battery systems

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, perform functional and safety tests, reverse engineer, and calibrate tools for wiring and components using hand tools and proper assembly techniques by following work instructions (prints, cut sheets, sample harnesses)
  • Install lights, brackets, and electrical hardware to special test boxes, automotive components, and vehicles according to specifications
  • Test wiring and components for correct operation using a schematic and diagnostic equipment
  • Perform wiring reworks and repairs on bench and vehicle, crimp and solder, de-pin terminal, create basic schematics and reverse engineer harnesses
  • Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs
  • Train, coach, and mentor team members related to their job responsibilities and is available as a subject matter expert to assist the team
  • Lead daily shop organization and clean-up
