About The Position

The Ruth Young Social Impact Institute at the University of Maryland School of Social Work has an opportunity for a Senior Technical Assistance and Training Specialist. This position will lead model implementation for community-based and evidence-based programs across the state, including but not limited to training and guidance around best practices among those who hold a variety of positions including clinicians, direct care staff, supervisors, administrators, and policy makers. The Senior Technical Assistance and Training Specialist will provide programs with regular oversight through the application of data reports and evaluation of implementation strengths and challenges. The selected candidate will also be responsible for the development of resources and facilitation of meetings that improve partnership among local programs and their referral sources using implementation science and continuous quality improvement to make data driven decisions. This individual will also collaborate with state partners to assess and develop technical assistance plans to support and improve collaboration among key stakeholders and model providers. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, organizational development, business, communications or related degree.
  • Four (4) years of related training experience of which three (3) years must be in relevant training specialization.
  • Clinical competence in family therapy, behavior therapy, child development and/or substance use treatment and recovery.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts concisely, as well as appropriately interpret and understand verbal and non-verbal cues and complex written information.
  • Strong leadership skills, approaches work with integrity and open to continuous learning.
  • Responsible for leading the development and execution of training programs using generally accepted methods appropriate to the training field.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and demonstrate professional, ethical, respectful, and responsible behavior when interacting with internal staff, external community partners, and clients at all levels.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Uses an equity lens to inform decisions and achieve effective outcomes.

Nice To Haves

  • M.S in Social Work, Counseling, or related field.
  • Experience providing implementation support for evidence-based, community-based programs of success in that role and prior experience providing community-based and home-based service delivery using systemic approaches to treatment.
  • Experience in child-serving systems is preferred, ideally within child welfare and/or juvenile justice systems.
  • Must be able to teach and make effective public presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains expert knowledge of community-based implementation and engages in ongoing professional development specific to the models being supported.
  • Responsible for leading technical assistance activities using generally accepted methods of implementation support.
  • Identifies future training needs and strategies to develop through implementation and evaluation.
  • Responsible for continuously evaluating effectiveness of training and implementation tools and strategies, and revising as needed.
  • Establishes relationships/partnerships and collaborates with external and internal stakeholders to assess and develop long-term implementation and training plans to ensure needs are effectively met.
  • Develops, recommends, modifies and implements policies and procedures and/or methods of technical assistance to meet changing needs and requirements and enforces standards.
  • Leads Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement activities with each model provider, assesses strengths and needs, and develops plans to address needs at the level of provider and community systems that impact the functioning of the program.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds and demonstrates skill in understanding cultural differences.
  • Other duties or tasks may be assigned on an as-needed basis.
