About The Position

The Nuclear Company is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Nuclear Training Specialist to join our Regulatory Affairs & Training team in Columbia, South Carolina. The Senior Nuclear Training Specialist designs, develops, and delivers performance-based training and qualification programs across TNC’s training organization — spanning internal compliance and technical qualification, project and site support, leadership and onboarding, and client-facing services delivery. The role applies the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) to build programs that satisfy regulatory and industry standards while scaling to fleet deployment, and contributes directly to TNC’s commercial training offerings for domestic and international clients. This is a builder’s role. You will create qualification standards, curricula, examinations, and program infrastructure where none exists — and you will do it at startup speed with nuclear-grade rigor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, education, or a related field, or equivalent commercial nuclear power experience.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in commercial nuclear training, including program development under the Systematic Approach to Training.
  • Working knowledge of the regulatory and industry framework governing nuclear training: 10 CFR 50.120, 10 CFR Part 55, NUREG-1021, ANSI/ANS 3.1, and INPO ACAD accreditation objectives and criteria.
  • Direct experience supporting INPO-accredited training programs (self-evaluation, accreditation renewal, or ACAD-based program builds).
  • Demonstrated ability to develop qualification standards, examinations, and performance-based evaluation instruments from a blank page.
  • Strong technical writing and stakeholder communication skills; able to brief senior leadership and represent training in client-facing settings.

Nice To Haves

  • Current or previous SRO license or SRO certification.
  • AP1000 or nuclear new-build experience (construction, commissioning, or pre-operational readiness).
  • Instructor certification and platform delivery experience in an accredited program.
  • Experience building training capability in a startup, first-of-a-kind, or pre-operational environment.
  • International nuclear program exposure, including WANO standards and new-entrant nuclear nations.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems, qualification tracking tools, and modern (AI-assisted) content development workflows.
  • Experience supporting 10 CFR Part 26 fitness-for-duty training implications in scheduling and program design.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop training programs using the Systematic Approach to Training (analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation) consistent with ANSI/ANS 3.1, 10 CFR 50.120, and INPO ACAD guidance.
  • Conduct training needs analyses; develop qualification standards, qualification cards, job performance measures, lesson plans, and written/practical examinations for professional, technical, and craft positions.
  • Develop pre-qualification and selection assessment instruments with defensible, behaviorally anchored scoring for safety-significant roles.
  • Leverage TNC’s AI-accelerated content development toolset to produce fleet-consistent training materials at pace.
  • Maintain and execute against the training requirements matrix; support compliance training delivery, NANTeL reciprocity, and training records that meet NQA-1 quality requirements.
  • Support licensed operator training and requalification program design consistent with 10 CFR Part 55 and NUREG-1021, including continuing training cycle tracking and evaluation.
  • Maintain export-control (10 CFR Part 810) awareness in the development and transfer of design-specific technical content.
  • Administer qualification and requalification tracking tools and records architecture; monitor cycle compliance and report program health to leadership.
  • Support the 90-day structured onboarding pipeline and leadership development curriculum, including supervisor training built on industry leadership standards.
  • Support delivery of TNC’s commercial training services to utility, new-build, and pre-operational clients — including training system design, workforce pipeline development, content development, and operational readiness consulting.
  • Contribute technology-agnostic capability content for proposals and RFP responses; support international engagements aligned to WANO performance objectives and criteria.
  • Deliver instruction and instructor development as needed, including train-the-trainer and instructor certification support.
