About The Position

SYSTRA Canada is looking for a Senior Traffic Engineer to support complex transit and LRT projects. This role will focus on traffic operations, construction staging, mobility planning, and multidisciplinary coordination. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
  • 15+ years of experience in traffic engineering, transportation planning, and transit infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience leading traffic and transportation components for large-scale LRT, rail, metro, subway, or other major transit projects.
  • Strong expertise in traffic modelling, transportation operations analysis, construction staging, and traffic management planning.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage stakeholder relationships in complex project environments.
  • Excellent communication, technical writing, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead traffic engineering and transportation planning for large-scale transit and LRT projects across planning, design, construction, and commissioning.
  • Serve as Traffic Discipline Lead within multidisciplinary teams, coordinating with civil, utilities, transit, construction, and stakeholder teams.
  • Lead traffic operations analyses, transportation impact assessments, and corridor-level mobility studies.
  • Develop and oversee Traffic and Transit Management Plans (TTMPs) to maintain safe and efficient mobility during construction.
  • Direct traffic modelling, simulation, construction staging, temporary traffic control, and detour strategy assessments.
  • Assess roadway, transit, pedestrian, and cycling network operations and develop mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions.
  • Ensure continuity of transit and active transportation networks while maintaining safety, accessibility, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead traffic signal analysis, timing optimization, and intersection operations assessments.
  • Develop property access, traffic circulation, and connectivity strategies for affected communities, businesses, and stakeholders.
