Requirements
- Law degree from an ABA accredited law school with excellent academic credentials, and admission to and in good standing with at least one state bar required.
- A minimum of 10 years of trademark and copyright experience with a significant clearance and prosecution background as well as first-hand client counseling and education.
- Extensive knowledge of domestic and international laws, regulations, and processes relating to trademark, copyright and internet and domain name matters.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work as part of a team, as well as to work independently and balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Outstanding interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- In-house and medical device, pharmaceutical, and/or healthcare products experience preferred.
- Prior people leader experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for all aspects of trademark clearance, prosecution, maintenance and enforcement, as well as copyright and internet/domain name matters.
- Leads and manages a team of trademark and copyright professionals, including optimizing workflows, advancing talent development, and enhancing culture and engagement.
- Works closely with marketing clients and with other functional areas that support the business, providing proactive and strategic counseling that balances reasoned legal analysis with business needs.
- Directs contentious proceedings before courts, trademark offices and other government agencies worldwide, including management of outside counsel.
- Provides legal support for various commercial initiatives and transactions, including due diligence and the negotiation and drafting of a broad range of agreements.
