Senior Trade Compliance Specialist
About The Position
As a Senior Trade Compliance Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to lead and manage global import/export compliance processes for U.S. and Canadian shipments, ensuring full adherence to trade laws and regulations. You will serve as a subject matter expert in customs regulations, HTS/ECCN classifications, and country-of-origin determinations, while supporting internal audits, broker oversight, and regulatory reporting. In this role, you’ll collaborate cross-functionally with supply chain, procurement, product development, and logistics teams to proactively integrate compliance across the product and order lifecycle. You’ll also be responsible for maintaining and improving recordkeeping systems, facilitating Free Trade Agreement (FTA) documentation, and monitoring regulatory changes that impact Sekisui’s trade obligations.
Requirements
- Strong analytical skills
- Sound judgment
- Deep understanding of U.S. and Canadian trade regulations
- Comfortable working independently on complex issues
- Ability to interpret trade laws
- Ability to implement scalable compliance frameworks
- Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Legal Studies, or a related field
- 5 - 8 years of progressive experience in global trade compliance or customs operations
Nice To Haves
- Experience with trade automation tools
- Certifications such as CCS, CES, or CTCS
- U.S. Customs Broker License
