About The Position

Boeing is seeking a highly experienced Senior Tooling Design Analyst to support the design, development, analysis, release, and sustainment of complex tooling solutions in support of aerospace manufacturing and assembly operations. This position is onsite in Huntsville, Alabama. This position requires deep technical expertise in tooling design, manufacturing support, supplier coordination, configuration control, and engineering analysis, along with the ability to lead technical solutions that improve safety, producibility, and operational performance. The selected candidate will serve as a technical contributor and subject matter expert for tooling development activities in support of Boeing operations. This role requires onsite reporting to Boeing Huntsville and will support sites at Michoud Assembly Facility and Kennedy Space Center as needed. The role supports operations at Michoud Assembly Facility and Kennedy Space Center and may require work in industrial, manufacturing, integration, or test environments. Work may involve time on the production floor, in fabrication areas, and around tooling, support equipment, and production systems. The position may also involve support of specialized manufacturing and test activities, as well as sustainment and upgrade efforts in controlled government environments. This is an opportunity to contribute to critical tooling development efforts in support of Boeing manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will bring extensive tooling expertise, aerospace manufacturing experience, and the ability to lead technical execution, support sustainment, and strengthen tooling capability in a dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • 10+ years’ experience in tool design, tool construction, and/or tooling value stream
  • 10+ years’ experience using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools
  • 10+ years’ experience in structural analysis methods and tools such as Finite Element Analysis
  • This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with enterprise systems such as WINDCHILL, APDM, TEAMCENTER, GOLD, MESci, SAP, Orbits, Velocity, and PIRS
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling fabrication, assembly, and sustaining engineering practices

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, analysis, release, and sustainment of complex tooling, fixtures, jigs, molds, templates, and support equipment
  • Support tooling solutions for aerospace manufacturing, assembly, integration, and production operations
  • Develop tooling concepts and detailed designs using advanced CAD tools such as Creo, CATIA, NX/Unigraphics, or equivalent
  • Apply systems engineering methods to derive tooling requirements from product definition, technical specifications, and program objectives
  • Evaluate tooling designs for functionality, producibility, safety, cost, schedule, and operational effectiveness
  • Create and maintain tooling drawings, models, and documentation under configuration control
  • Support engineering change incorporation, release processes, and documentation updates throughout the tooling lifecycle
  • Coordinate with stress engineering and use finite element analysis tools to support structural validation and resolve tooling instabilities
  • Support fabrication, assembly, installation, test, and acceptance of tooling
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and supplier organizations to resolve technical and production issues
  • Participate in design reviews, technical assessments, and fabrication readiness activities
  • Support supplier development, technical oversight, and tooling procurement execution
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues affecting tooling performance, producibility, and production flow
  • Support non-conformance resolution, deviation processing, and corrective action activities
  • Lead and support sustaining engineering efforts across multiple concurrent tooling efforts
  • Provide technical direction, coaching, and mentorship to less experienced engineers and technical staff
  • Contribute to process improvement and lean initiatives that improve tooling effectiveness and lifecycle performance
  • Support manufacturing planning, work instruction development, and producibility assessments as needed
