About The Position

We are seeking a Senior TIG Welder / Fabricator to join our fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe, precise, and efficient fitting GTAW (TIG) welding of complex components and assemblies. As a senior member of the team, you will leverage your advanced welding expertise, strong fabrication skills, and in-depth knowledge of materials, welding procedures, and blueprint interpretation to complete intricate projects with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, commitment to craftsmanship, and the ability to mentor less experienced team members while contributing to overall shop productivity.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years of GTAW (TIG) welding and fabrication experience in a custom fabrication, manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with sheet metal fabrication, including layout, forming, fitting, assembly, and finishing of precision components.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete complex fit-up, fabrication, and welding projects with minimal supervision.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve fabrication and welding challenges.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and performing physically demanding work.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or within a team.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and maintaining a clean workspace.

Nice To Haves

  • Current CWB Certification in relevant welding processes and materials.
  • Experience with GMAW and FCAW/MCAW processes.
  • Previous experience mentoring, training, or providing technical guidance to junior welders and fabricators.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced, high-quality GTAW (TIG) welding on stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum.
  • Complete complex fabrication, fitting, and assembly of custom components and weldments, maintaining tight tolerances and exceptional cosmetic weld quality.
  • Utilize GMAW and FCAW/MCAW processes as required based on project specifications, material type, and production needs.
  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, welding specifications and work instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Plan and execute fit-up, alignment, joint preparation, and assembly processes to ensure dimensional accuracy and optimal weld performance.
  • Determine appropriate welding techniques, parameters, consumables, and sequencing based on material type, thickness, and application requirements.
  • Perform tacking, pre-heating, interpass control, post-weld finishing, and corrective actions in accordance with applicable welding procedures and standards.
  • Operate, maintain, and support the setup of welding equipment, tooling, and fabrication machinery to maximize efficiency, quality and safety.
  • Provide guidance, technical support, and mentorship to junior welders and fabricators, promoting best practices and skill development within the team.
  • Collaborate with Supervisors, Engineering, Quality and Production teams to resolve technical issues, support project requirements, and meet production schedules.
  • Accurately document weld records, inspection results, rework activities, and production data as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safety and operational efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
