About The Position

The Boeing Test & Evaluation (BT&E) organization is seeking a Senior Test & Evaluation Lab Tech to join their team in Berkeley, Missouri. This position will provide test and evaluation technician support in either a lab or an aircraft production environment, working alongside production operations personnel. The main responsibilities include fabricating and maintaining the instrumentation system, which involves installing a high volume of sensors and associated wiring onto aircraft parts and assemblies according to engineering requirements. Sensor types primarily include Strain Gages and Accelerometers, with other types including Thermocouples, RTDs, and Pressure Transducers. The processes require coordination with Instrumentation Operations Engineers and Design Build Manufacturing Engineers, the ability to interpret engineering drawings, locating, surface preparation, hand sanding, cleaning, handling hazardous materials such as solvents and cleaners, adhesives, sealants, wire fabrication, electrical terminations, soldering, crimping, wire routing, continuity checks, labeling, and sealing. The ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits and wiring is also required. Accessibility for this role may involve working for periods while standing, kneeling, working from stair ladders, mobile lift platforms, scissor lifts, boom lifts, or supported by overhead support systems. Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) such as eye protection and hard toe shoes are required.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship
  • A final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required
  • Ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only
  • Associate’s degree or higher, a Technical certificate or degree, or 4 or more years of equivalent technical experience
  • 4+ years of strain gaging experience
  • Experience fabricating, installing, routing, terminating, soldering, and repairing electrical wiring harnesses; or any variety of electrical components, and associated equipment
  • Experience interpreting electrical engineering drawings, schematics, and definition

Nice To Haves

  • Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
  • Experience installing aircraft modifications to include fabricating and installing aircraft electrical system wiring, connectors, electrical components or avionics boxes
  • Experience with aerospace assembly and/or electrical fabrication
  • Experience with leading in a lab environment ensuring capability and readiness

Responsibilities

  • Oversees, plans, conducts, and documents tests on products, systems, components, materials, and manufacturing processes and technologies
  • Oversees, designs, fabricates, builds and analyzes test systems, materials, components, software and methodologies
  • Coordinates test requirements, determines test methods and capabilities
  • Conduct system test preparations by coordinating system integration, fabrication, modification, setup, checkout and teardown
  • Conducts tests, analyzes data and documents results; participates in test readiness review
  • Troubleshoots and resolves laboratory and test-related problems
  • Coordinates test laboratory activities and maintenance and repairs
  • Coaches and trains others
  • Works under consultative direction
  • Fabricating and maintaining the instrumentation system, to include installing a high volume of sensors and associated wiring onto aircraft parts and assemblies per engineering requirements
