About The Position

The Dexterous AI Group is seeking a Senior Test Engineer to drive the characterization, qualification, and failure analysis of ADI’s next-generation tactile sensing hardware for AI-powered dexterous manipulation. You will own the test and characterization workflows that take our tactile sensors from prototype through validation — working hands-on with microelectronic fabrication processes, electrical bench equipment, and failure analysis tools — while partnering closely with our multidisciplinary robotics team to ensure our sensors meet the demands of next-generation humanoid hands.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with and understanding of microelectronic device and sensor fabrication technologies.
  • Hands-on experience designing sensor characterization, testing, and qualification processes, including data analysis and reporting.
  • Familiarity with common electrical benchtop measurement equipment, such as oscilloscopes, source measure units (SMUs), and DAQs.
  • Proficiency in Python for data analysis and test automation; experience with LabVIEW for instrument automation.
  • Working knowledge of basic CAD design and prototyping tools, including 3D printers.
  • Detail-driven, hardworking, and comfortable working hands-on in a fast-paced lab environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience handling devices with flexible substrates (e.g., polyimide).
  • Hands-on experience with failure analysis techniques such as SEM, FIB, and EDS.
  • Experience driving the definition and authoring of sensor specifications and datasheets.
  • Background in tactile, force, or pressure sensing technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design sensor characterization, testing, and qualification processes and plans for tactile sensors and devices.
  • Conduct thorough sensor characterization, perform data analysis, and report findings and recommendations to the team.
  • Conduct failure analysis (FA) on sensors and devices using techniques such as SEM, FIB, and EDS.
  • Drive the definition, writing, and completion of sensor specifications and datasheets.
  • Write programs in Python and LabVIEW to automate sensor characterization and test workflows.
  • Perform data analysis in Python to extract insights from characterization, qualification, and FA data.
  • Use basic CAD design and 3D printers and other tools to build test fixtures and prototype hardware.
  • Perform common electrical benchtop measurements (oscilloscope, SMU, DAQ, etc.) to support device bring-up, debug, and characterization.
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, fabrication, and AI/robotics teams to translate sensor and system requirements into test plans, specs, and datasheets.

Benefits

  • medical, vision and dental coverage
  • 401k
  • paid vacation, holidays, and sick time
