About The Position

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Test Automation Developer with a minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in test automation, specializing in RF testing with a strong emphasis on Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) systems. This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise in automated testing and the ability to consult on electrical engineering topics, particularly power systems design and compliance with industry standards. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure robust testing frameworks and provide engineering guidance to maintain compliance and performance standards. This role is a single-point contributor and will report to the Vice President of Hardware Engineering within the System Engineering Organization. Success in this position requires the candidate to be technical, hands-on, and willing to engage in test activities in and outside of lab environments. Travel is expected to be minimal for this position. Hybrid and local candidates are encouraged to apply.

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in test automation development.
  • Bachelor's Degree in applicable engineering or science field, or, in the absence of a bachelor's degree, eleven years of related experience.
  • Strong background in RF testing, specifically WGS systems.
  • Understanding of industry best practices regarding test structures and data handling.
  • Ability to architect complete solutions for automation of certification, factory acceptance, and troubleshooting test activities.
  • Solid understanding of electrical engineering principles, with expertise in power systems and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in Python and familiarity with tools for developing front-end and back-end applications deployable on standalone PCs in disconnected environments.
  • Familiarity with RF measurement tools (e.g., spectrum analyzers, signal generators) and satellite communication systems.
  • Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance required.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong knowledge of compliance standards (IEEE, MIL-STD, FCC).
  • Experience with RF test equipment and automation frameworks (e.g., PyTest, Robot Framework).
  • Familiarity with MS Office and data analysis tools.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, mission-critical environments.
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills for test results and issue tracking.
  • Additional skills in SCPI Communication (LAN/GPIB), general networking knowledge (subnets, ssh), version control administration (management of branches, tags, releases, etc within Git)

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks for RF systems, focusing on WGS testing protocols.
  • Execute and analyze RF test cases to validate system performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate automated testing into development and deployment pipelines.
  • Apply software development best practices, including version control (Git), code reviews, and continuous integration (CI/CD).
  • Document test results, issues found, and corrective actions in a clear and organized manner for traceability and compliance.
  • Provide consultative support on electrical engineering topics, including power systems design, load analysis, and compliance with relevant standards (e.g., NFPA, IEEE, MIL-STD).
  • Ensure adherence to industry compliance standards for electrical and RF systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex test automation and RF performance issues.
  • Participate in technical reviews, audits, and compliance assessments.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for testing methodologies and engineering practices.
