About The Position

We are hiring a hybrid profile: a seasoned backend-focused Test Automation Developer with the leadership and strategic mindset of a Test Lead. You will design, build, and maintain backend/component/integration/E2E test automation, lead test strategy across teams, and coach engineers to adopt effective testing practices. You’ll ensure coverage at the right test level, decide what to automate vs keep manual, and ensure robust, fast CI/CD implementation.

Requirements

Bilingual: fluent in English and French.
Agile/Scrum experience
Good adaptability, teamwork, and communication skills
Good knowledge of Quality Engineering, ISTQB certification an asset
Experience with Java (we use version 21)
Knowledge of TestNG (testing framework), an asset
Knowledge of Cypress and Selenium (front-end testing), an asset
Knowledge of Jenkins and Maven, an asset
Knowledge of Confluence and Jira
Strong experience in backend/API test automation using TestNG or equivalent tools (Java preferred).
Solid understanding of microservices, REST/SOAP services, batch jobs, databases, messaging (e.g., Kafka/MQ).
Proven ability to design test strategies and justify test level selection and automation vs manual decisions.
Hands-on experience with mocking/stubbing, contract testing, data management, and flakiness mitigation.
CI/CD integration experience (reports, gates, artifacts) and performance/observability awareness.
Leadership: coaching, governance, communicating strategy to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
TDD/BDD practices and quality gates adoption.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Test containers, Pact (or similar), mutation testing, performance budgets, Mock-up.
Regulated/critical systems exposure, incident prevention/MTTR improvement.
