About The Position

Lear Corporation is seeking a Senior Product Development Engineer (Terminals) for its Connection Systems Business Unit at its World Headquarters in Southfield, MI. This role reports to the North America Connection Systems engineering manager and is responsible for managing the 3D model development (50% of the day), 2D print development/library release (15% of the day), and lab interactions (35% of the day) for terminal systems. The engineer will lead engineering activities for assigned programs to ensure products meet customer and company specifications and program milestones are achieved. This includes coordinating and monitoring the engineering process, providing direction, and potentially managing support engineers and technicians. Development activities encompass 3D CAD proposals, Design of Experiments (DOE) with prototyping, preparing DFMEAs, material selection, managing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and design changes, creating drawings and stackups, providing plant support for design for manufacturing, and developing service manuals. Requirements

  • Experience with terminal system product development (design attributes and industry specifications).
  • 3D modeling capability (CATIA V5, Solid works, or UG); Able to use CAD as a design review tool at a minimum.
  • Knowledge of part design for progressive die and injection molding (cavity development).
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated communicator.
  • Able to work within a diverse global team with varying levels of experience.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the 3D model development of terminal systems.
