About The Position

Cleveland Metroparks is seeking a Senior Technician at Seneca Golf Course to help maintain and enhance golf course quality. The position performs skilled and semi-skilled golf course maintenance work to support optimal playing conditions and overall course aesthetics. It also involves training team members and providing work direction and task assignments as needed.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in turfgrass science or related experience.
• Possess or obtain an Ohio Pesticide Applicator’s License within the first 6 months of employment; category 8 – turf pests endorsement is preferred.
• Possess a valid driver’s license.
• Knowledge of turf maintenance practices and golf etiquette.
• Experience in basic maintenance and repair of golf turf equipment.
• Ability to demonstrate leadership consistent with a teamwork approach that recognizes the contribution of all employees.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Ohio Pesticide Applicator’s License category 8 – turf pests endorsement.
• Staying current with new production methods, techniques, and materials to enhance golf course maintenance practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled work on golf course irrigation and drainage systems.
• Conduct routine course maintenance, including cutting cups, raking bunkers, and mowing greens, tees, and fairways while exercising independent judgment.
• Assist with maintenance and repair of turf equipment, including golf carts, triplex mowers, fairway mowers, utility carts, and rough mowers.
• Grind and set up reels for fairway, greens, and tee mowers.
• Handle and apply pesticides and fertilizers, including properly calibrating sprayers and spreaders.
• Operate and maintain golf course equipment such as greens mowers, rollers, tractors, topdressers, and spreaders.
• Train team members on equipment operation, maintenance, and safety procedures.
• Provide work direction and assign tasks to team members as needed.
