About The Position

Ping Identity is seeking a Senior Technical Writer to join their documentation team. This role involves working on documentation for one or more products within Ping Identity’s portfolio, catering to various audiences in a Docs-as-Code environment. The position is open to remote or hybrid candidates in the United States, with hybrid options in Denver, CO or Austin, TX. The Senior Technical Writer will collaborate with subject matter experts, engineers, and product teams to create and maintain core documentation for Ping Identity's products and services. This includes delivering documentation for cloud-based services and/or on-premise software for audiences such as end-users, administrators, developers, integrators, and DevOps. The role requires investigating, researching, and learning products and their standards, translating complex technical concepts into clear and user-friendly content with examples and use cases, and advocating for documentation throughout the software development lifecycle. The writer will work with AsciiDoc in a Docs-as-Code environment using GitHub, closely follow the software development lifecycle, and provide constructive edits for content.

Requirements

Prior experience or exposure to software development, including familiarity with Agile development methodologies
Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and quality standards with minimal supervision
Demonstrated ability to proactively explore unreleased features, test early-stage software, and gather insights independently while engaging with engineering teams
Experience using markdown languages, version control tools, single-source techniques, metadata/tagging, and integrated development environments (IDEs)
Experience with Jira and Confluence or similar project management platforms
Experience using AI assistants (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot) for code generation, use case creation, draft summarization, and style guide checking
Understanding of how documentation sites are built and published (Jenkins, Antora)
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively face to face and remotely
Provided constructive structural and technical edits for writers or developer-contributed content
A dual-audience mindset, with the ability to craft engaging, user-friendly content for humans while structuring documentation for seamless consumption by AI tools, search engines, and coding assistants.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with subject matter experts, engineers, and product teams to define, design, create, and maintain core documentation for Ping Identity's products and services
Deliver documentation for cloud-based services and/or on-premise software aimed at different audiences, including end-users, admins, developers, integrators, and DevOps
Investigate, research, and learn our products and the standards they depend on
Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly content, including real-life examples and use cases
Advocate for documentation throughout the software development lifecycle during product planning and feature scoping meetings.
Work with AsciiDoc in a Docs-as-Code authoring and publishing environment using GitHub
Follow the software development lifecycle process closely to anticipate and ascertain documentation needs
Provide constructive structural and technical edits for writers or developer-contributed content.
