Senior Technical Sourcer (Contract)

Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies
$45 - $75

About The Position

Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies is a joint venture between two industry leaders with a clear vision for automotive’s next chapter. From operating systems to zonal controllers to cloud and connectivity solutions, we’re addressing the challenges of electric vehicles through technology that will set the standards for software-defined vehicles around the world. The road to the future is uncharted. By combining our expertise across connectivity, AI, security and more, we’ll map a new way forward. Working together, we’ll create a future that’s more connected, more intelligent, more sustainable for everyone. We are looking for a driven and intellectually curious Technical Sourcer to join our Talent Acquisition team. In this role, you will be the tip of the spear in identifying and engaging world-class technical talent across a broad range of engineering and technical disciplines. You bring a builder's mindset — comfortable operating in ambiguity, switching context across domains, and developing sourcing strategies from scratch. You don’t need to be a subject matter expert in every field you recruit for; you thrive on learning quickly and translating technical nuance into compelling outreach and sharp candidate assessments.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of proven experience as a technical sourcer or in a similar talent acquisition role, with a demonstrated track record of engaging and hiring technical talent.
  • Versatile sourcing experience across multiple technical disciplines — such as software engineering, systems engineering, mechanical, electrical, hardware, or aerospace engineering — with the ability to pivot fluidly between domains.
  • Strong proficiency with LinkedIn Recruiter, advanced Boolean search, and AI-powered sourcing and talent intelligence platforms (e.g., HireEZ, SeekOut, or similar).
  • Experience with an ATS (e.g., Ashby, Greenhouse, Lever, Workday, or similar) and a strong commitment to data integrity and process discipline.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft compelling, personalized candidate outreach and engage credibly with technical professionals.
  • Proven ability to own an end-to-end sourcing strategy across a full book of requisitions — setting priorities, managing competing searches, and making sound, independent decisions about where to invest sourcing effort.
  • Analytical mindset with a data-driven approach to evaluating sourcing effectiveness and informing strategy.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience sourcing for roles in aerospace, defense, advanced technology, or complex hardware industries.
  • Experience with competitive intelligence and talent market mapping to proactively surface insights that shape hiring strategy.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Ashby, Greenhouse, Gem, and other AI-assisted sourcing workflows.
  • Demonstrated experience sourcing for niche, hard-to-fill, or executive-level roles.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and able to maintain a high sense of urgency without sacrificing quality or attention to detail.
  • Resilient and adaptable under pressure, with a creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Low ego, high curiosity — values continuous learning, embraces honest feedback, and treats setbacks as growth opportunities.
  • Strong customer service mindset with a genuine commitment to candidate experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute targeted sourcing strategies to identify top-tier passive and active candidates across a variety of technical domains.
  • Apply advanced Boolean search, AI-powered sourcing tools, market mapping, and professional networks to surface talent that others miss.
  • Initiate and build meaningful relationships with prospective candidates through tailored, personalized outreach.
  • Articulate our mission compellingly and inspire genuine interest in our work and culture.
  • Build and maintain robust, forward-looking candidate pipelines across multiple technical disciplines, ensuring a healthy flow of qualified talent for both immediate and future hiring needs.
  • Conduct initial candidate screens and exploratory conversations to evaluate technical alignment, background depth, and motivation.
  • Provide thoughtful, calibrated assessments to recruiting partners and hiring managers.
  • Partner closely with recruiters and hiring managers to deeply understand role requirements and translate them into effective, targeted sourcing plans.
  • Align sourcing strategy with broader hiring goals and team priorities.
  • Track sourcing metrics, pipeline health, and pass-through rates.
  • Use data-driven insights to continuously refine strategies and contribute to the overall improvement of the talent acquisition function.
  • Maintain disciplined and consistent documentation within the ATS, ensuring accurate candidate records, activity tracking, and pipeline visibility across the team.
