Senior Technical Recruiter (12 Month Contract)

Purpose UnlimitedToronto, ON
CA$90,000 - CA$120,000Hybrid

About The Position

Purpose Unlimited is building the future of financial services and is seeking a Senior Technical Recruiter to own the hiring engine for their technology and AI squads. This role involves identifying exceptional technical talent, closing candidates, and shaping the recruiting infrastructure. The recruiter will partner with the CTO and senior technology leaders to translate product and AI roadmaps into talent pipelines, covering roles such as software engineers, data engineers, data scientists, digital engineers, tech leads, and interns. This is a full-lifecycle, high-ownership role within a fast-paced startup environment. The company utilizes AI for sourcing volume and research, while the recruiter focuses on judgment, relationships, and closing candidates. The role emphasizes a full ownership mindset, where the individual is responsible for outcomes and shaping the company's product, culture, and trajectory.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of full-lifecycle technical recruiting, with direct ownership of searches across multiple technical disciplines.
  • A demonstrated track record closing passive senior candidates in competitive markets.
  • Fluency with AI recruiting tools – you know how to configure, direct, and improve them, not just use them.
  • Exceptional stakeholder communication; you earn trust quickly with technical leaders and hiring managers across disciplines.
  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience scaling technical recruiting across multiple disciplines – software, data, and digital – in a high-growth startup or fintech environment.
  • Background recruiting for internship and early-career programs alongside senior and specialist hires.
  • Proven ability to build recruiting processes that outlast the person who built them.
  • Experience with startup equity negotiation and total compensation storytelling.
  • Comfort holding a diverse requisition mix – volume, niche, senior, and emerging talent – without dropping quality on any of them.

Responsibilities

  • Build and own the full technical talent pipeline.
  • Source and close top-tier candidates across software engineering, data engineering, data science, digital engineering, and tech lead roles.
  • Manage the full spectrum from high-volume hiring to niche senior searches, and own the internship program end-to-end.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to the CTO and technology leadership.
  • Define ideal candidate profiles, go-to-market recruiting strategies, and hiring bar calibration across every technical discipline.
  • Bring market intelligence and competitive data that shape hiring decisions.
  • Own the candidate experience from first outreach to offer accepted.
  • Guide candidates through the process with transparency and genuine care for fit.
  • Lead compensation and equity conversations with confidence and precision.
  • Design and continuously improve the recruiting infrastructure.
  • Deploy AI recruiting tools to scale sourcing, research, and pipeline management.
  • Track, analyze, and act on recruiting metrics – conversion rates, time-to-fill, quality of hire.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment across Technology, Operations, Marketing, and P&C to land hires that stick.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation including equity program.
  • Comprehensive group health and dental benefits and life insurance at little to no cost.
  • Lifestyle Spending Account for wellness needs.
  • Flexible paid time-off policy covering vacation, sick, and mental health days.
  • Paid parental leave for eligible employees with a top-up.
  • Generous Group RRSP matching and an optional TFSA program.
  • Training opportunities and tuition support year-round.
