About The Position

Skylo is seeking a Senior Technical Recruiter in Mountain View to manage full-cycle hiring for critical engineering teams and to enhance the company's hiring system. This role involves treating each search as an opportunity to refine role definitions, candidate evaluation, and closing strategies. The recruiter will be a valuable partner to hiring managers, making interview processes more predictive, calibration sharper, and candidate conversations more effective.

Requirements

  • A Computer Science degree, Information Systems, or comparable technical educational background.
  • 3-5 years of in-house technical recruiting experience at a startup or scale-up, primarily as a solo recruiter or part of a small team building a scaling organization.
  • Demonstrated partnership with hiring managers, including examples of shaping role definitions, building/evolving interview loops, or pushing back on ineffective searches.
  • Track record of process improvement, such as interview rubric overhauls, ATS workflow redesign, sourcing methodology shifts, or candidate experience upgrades.
  • Native fluency with AI in daily workflow, actively using tools like Claude or equivalents for drafting outreach, synthesizing candidate signals, running boolean strategy, and accelerating screening.
  • Comfort hitting and reporting on KPIs (pipeline velocity, offer acceptance, time-to-hire) while prioritizing quality.
  • Skill in identifying niche technical talent across software, hardware, and satellite communications domains.
  • Experience closing complex offers by communicating mission, scope, and equity value, particularly with passive candidates.
  • A proactive approach to improvement: fixing broken steps in the funnel rather than working around them.

Nice To Haves

  • Agency recruiting experience earlier in career as a foundation.
  • Familiarity with Ashby and Metaview.
  • Experience with comparable modern ATS/interview-intelligence tools.
  • A satellite background is not required, but a willingness to learn the vocabulary quickly and source with precision in new areas is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Own full-cycle recruiting for high-impact roles across Engineering, Cloud, Space, and beyond, including hardware, software, and satellite communications domains.
  • Partner deeply with hiring managers on every search: clarify role definitions, design intentional interview loops, calibrate on candidates, and revisit the loop when necessary.
  • Identify, improve, and own aspects of the hiring system, such as interview rubrics, scorecard design, sourcing playbooks, intake processes, and candidate communications.
  • Build and integrate AI-powered workflows into daily practice using tools like Claude, Ashby's AI features, and Metaview for smarter sourcing, faster screening, and more reliable candidate signal synthesis.
  • Achieve aggressive pipeline velocity and offer-acceptance targets while maintaining a high quality bar.
  • Surface market insights, compensation trends, and structural bottlenecks to hiring managers and leadership.
  • Champion a candidate experience that reflects Skylo's mission and brand through transparent communication, timely feedback, and a closing process that acknowledges the significance of the company's work.
