Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) – Data Center Systems
About The Position
Trane Technologies is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager for its Data Center Vertical to lead and oversee major deployment programs in partnership with internal and external groups. The role organizes program teams, establishes clear roles and responsibilities, creates high-level workflow plans, and develops and manages master schedules. The program manager aligns objectives with strategic business goals and influences teams without direct authority, building support and maintaining schedule velocity. The role draws on product, project, technical, and investment stewardship to support successful delivery, and calls for comfort with ambiguity and a focus on improving efficiency and scaling team capabilities. The position manages projects from initiation through completion, with direct responsibility for execution and leadership of teams working toward specific objectives within defined timeframes and available resources. It administers, implements, and manages control projects, and is accountable for assigned project scope, schedule, and budget. The position is based in Davidson, North Carolina, and follows a hybrid schedule: onsite Monday through Thursday, with flexibility to choose the work location on Fridays.
Requirements
- BS or MS degree in a relevant engineering field.
- PMI PMP certification required.
- 5–7+ years of project or program execution experience.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and leading people.
- Ability to organize, develop, and motivate a team.

- MS, MBA, or advanced program management accreditation.
- Project portfolio, prioritization, and demand management experience.
- Scrum or Agile methodology experience.
Responsibilities
- Review project proposals and plans to determine timelines, funding limitations, procedures, staffing requirements, and allocation of departmental resources across project phases.
- Drive project risk, issue, and change management, resource allocation, resource visibility, and reporting with key stakeholders from concept through execution.
- Identify and schedule project deliverables, milestones, activities, and tasks.
- Motivate teams to work toward shared goals without direct authority, encourage cooperation, provide professional support, and delegate with respect and ownership.
- Establish project work plans and staffing for activities, iterations, or phases; arrange recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
- Review and approve work plans from external service providers or consultancies contracted to execute projects.
- Implement project communication plans.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation measures.
- Monitor project activities and ensure information is current, accurate, and consistent in content and presentation across the organization.
- Provide cost-to-benefit transparency and visibility across project work.
- Ensure project goals align with business objectives and are achieved.
- Assign duties and responsibilities to project personnel and define their scope of authority.
- Direct and coordinate project personnel to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
- Review project personnel status reports and modify schedules or plans as needed.
- Establish standards and procedures for project reporting and documentation.
- Continuously benchmark project management performance to identify improvements and increase project and portfolio management capability.
