About The Position
Join our team as a Senior Technical Editor and support a federal transportation research center by leading the editorial team behind high-stakes technical publications. You will oversee the entire editorial process for complex reports and documentation, mentor junior editors, and ensure every deliverable meets the highest standard of accuracy and style compliance. Position is contingent upon contract award.
Requirements
- Master's degree in English, Journalism, or a technical field
- 10+ years of experience, including supervisory and project management experience
Nice To Haves
- Highway/surface transportation experience
- Demonstrated mentorship of junior editorial staff
Responsibilities
- Direct the editorial process for high-visibility technical documents, reports, and manuals
- Verify technical accuracy, fact-check references, and ensure copyright compliance
- Mentor and guide junior technical writers and editors
- Manage the full lifecycle of documents from outline through final web/print publication
- Ensure strict adherence to the GPO Style Manual and agency style guides
