About The Position

The Senior Technical Course Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and evaluating engaging, interactive, memorable, and easy-to-navigate eLearning training courses and embedded product instruction. This role involves the technical development of online learning content, including programming, testing, stakeholder review, and publishing of eLearning courses, as well as the creation, review, and implementation of embedded product instruction. The content can be customer-facing and/or internal/employee-facing, ensuring that training addresses all levels of learners in the use of company products/services. The developer will conduct needs assessments, coordinate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to create accurate content, document course requirements/objectives, and create course outlines. They will utilize supporting technical documentation, prioritize user experience, and ensure proper publication and organization of course files. Additionally, the role involves developing course knowledge checks, handouts/job aids, and evaluations, building relationships across business units for content curation, and assessing/prioritizing course backlog. The individual must work independently, apply good judgment, and continuously seek to improve training experiences by investigating and recommending new tools or solutions to drive business success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of three years of experience with comparable knowledge and skills
  • Experience with administrative use and functionality of a Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Confident working with e-learning development software, specifically Articulate Storyline, Articulate 360 and Camtasia
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, and OneNote
  • Ability to publish eLearning courses as SCORM packages
  • Ability to translate complex technical documentation into clear, accessible, and actionable content that supports non-technical user learning
  • Experience in developing original, innovative and engaging training programs including support materials, demonstrations, knowledge checks, assessments/exams, and identifying feedback/improvement loops
  • Excellent verbal and written skills for the purpose of communication, documentation development, curriculum development, scripting, and editing
  • Ability to successfully work in collaboration with subject-matter experts, stakeholders and/or technical personnel at varying organizational levels
  • Strong organizational and project management capabilities with ability to work within time and production deadlines, yet maintain adaptability/flexibility when projects and goals shift
  • Critical thinking, attention to detail, curious and unafraid to ask questions, problem-solving and analytical/research abilities including being able to evaluate multiple solutions and provide recommendations

  • Association for Talent Development (ATD) or similar credential/certification
  • Working knowledge of ADDIE model to develop creative, interactive and engaging web-based learning modules
  • Foundational knowledge and understanding of learning theory, instructional design techniques, diverse learning styles, and adult learning principles
  • Experience with SCORM and Tin Can (xAPI) standards
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat, SharePoint, SalesForce, Snagit, Synthesia and/or WalkMe a plus
  • Familiarity with AI tools and prompting (Copilot, etc.)
  • Understanding of casualty insurance claims processes, bill review systems, insurance or healthcare/medical coding industries a plus

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for technical development of the online learning course or product content, including programming, testing, stakeholder review and publishing of each eLearning course as well as creation, review and implementation of embedded product instruction.
  • Ensure that training addresses all levels of learners in the use of company products/services.
  • Complete needs assessments, identify and coordinate with SMEs to create logical and accurate content, document course requirements/objectives and create course outlines as needed.
  • Utilize supporting technical documentation for content when appropriate.
  • Ensure courses are published properly and original files are organized and saved to shared directories.
  • Develop course knowledge checks, handouts/job aids and evaluations as needed.
  • Develop relationships across multiple business units and departments to coordinate with SMEs across the company when curating course content.
  • Assess and prioritize course backlog and needs for future course development/course updates.
  • Be able to work independently, apply good judgement and develop instruction to support learner needs and solutions.
  • Actively seek to improve training, training experiences and retention by investigating, recommending or reviewing tools, applications or solutions not currently in use.
