About The Position

Behaviour Interactive is a dynamic, independent studio with over 1200 passionate employees, with studios in Toronto, Rotterdam, and the UK. They focus on two main areas: Services and Original Games. Their Services team collaborates with major gaming and entertainment companies, while their Original Games unit develops signature IPs like Dead by Daylight. As a Senior Technical Animator, you will be the bridge between art and technology, empowering animators by optimizing tools and engine pipelines. You will work with the tools and game engine to overcome technical challenges in creating animations for their AAA Unreal game, using your strong knowledge of rigging and skinning to create the structure animators need to bring characters to life.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in animation in the video game industry.
  • Excellent technical skills like rigging and skinning.
  • A good understanding of the principles of animation.
  • Expertise in Maya and Unreal Engine.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of MEL script, Python and/or Mgear is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for animation and character integration in Unreal, creating and maintaining rigs for both bipedal and non-bipedal characters.
  • Spot potential animation problems, research new technologies, and find solutions.
  • Investigate, diagnose, and resolve animation bugs across various in-game systems.
  • Ensure character rigs are efficient, scalable, and optimized for real-time performance within the game engine.
  • Create technical documents to share knowledge with animators and programmers.
