Senior Technical Account Manager, Federal Programs
About The Position
Fortress is building a pipeline of qualified candidates for an upcoming Senior Technical Account Manager, Federal Programs opening. While this role is not immediately open, we expect to fill it soon and want to connect with strong candidates now so we can move quickly when it does. The Senior Technical Account Manager (Sr TAM) is a senior individual contributor on the Fortress Delivery - Government team. The Sr TAM owns the full technical relationship for an assigned federal program and serves as the senior Fortress technical voice in the room, including direct advisory work with ISSOs, ISSMs and government leadership on cybersecurity, compliance and delivery risk. This is not a support seat. The Sr TAM sets the program's technical approach, directs the work of Forward Deployed Engineers, and carries end-to-end delivery accountability. The Sr TAM works inside a Fortress team that supports high-profile DoD and Navy programs on the most critical work in federal cybersecurity today: Risk Management Framework authorization, NIST SP 800-53 control implementation, and Executive Order 14028 alignment across secure software development, SBOM and supply chain risk. This role also partners with business development to identify and advance growth that comes out of delivery. The role carries a defined path forward. Progression is shown through sustained ownership across multiple programs or a multi-lance portfolio, contribution to a won capture pursuit. For the right candidate, the position offers genuine program ownership and direct access to federal decision-makers.
Requirements
- 9 or more years in technical account management, technical project management, cybersecurity consulting or a related field.
- Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret.
- Advanced knowledge of DoD cybersecurity frameworks including RMF and applicable NIST standards.
- Experience supporting or advising ISSO and ISSM functions in risk management and compliance contexts.
- Strong understanding of mission risk and enterprise risk in federal or defense environments.
- Familiarity with Agile, Scrum and Waterfall methodologies.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in complex regulated environments.
- Ability to independently use and refine AI-driven prompts to improve the quality and efficiency of regular work processes.
- Resident within commutable distance of a supported federal work site.
Nice To Haves
- Experience supporting DoD or Navy programs in a consulting or advisory capacity.
- Familiarity with DoDI 8510.01 and DoD authorization processes.
- PMP, CAPM, Project+, CSM or relevant cybersecurity certifications.
Responsibilities
- Own the technical relationship for an assigned federal program, including direct advisory engagement with ISSOs and ISSMs.
- Advise government stakeholders on mission, system and program risk related to cybersecurity, compliance and delivery timelines.
- Guide client alignment with the DoD Risk Management Framework and applicable NIST standards, including NIST SP 800-37 and NIST SP 800-53.
- Advise on Executive Order 14028 alignment, covering Secure Software Development Lifecycle principles, SBOM coordination, supply chain risk management, and vulnerability disclosure coordination.
- Prepare and deliver project briefings, status updates and advisory documentation to government leadership.
- Direct the technical work of Forward Deployed Engineers assigned to the program, set priorities, review output and hold delivery quality.
- Define and defend the technical approach for the program and resolve conflicts between client requirements, platform capability and compliance constraints.
- Identify expansion scope emerging from delivery and hand it to Capture with the technical case attached.
- Mentor Technical Account Manager personnel on the program and review their client-facing output.
- Partner with the Program Manager on schedule, dependency and escalation management.
- Serve as subject matter expert on Fortress offerings as they relate to federal and DoD clients.
