About The Position

Sonar is seeking a Senior Recruiter based in San Mateo to lead full-cycle recruitment across technical, go-to-market (GTM), and general and administrative (G&A) roles. The recruiter will help integrate and scale the Gitar team following its acquisition and serve as the first recruiter in Sonar’s Bay Area office. The role partners with hiring managers and senior stakeholders across global locations to identify, attract, and close talent across the business. Hiring priorities may shift as the company grows, so the recruiter must be able to flex across functions and act as a trusted talent partner who helps shape hiring strategy, rather than simply administering a process. This high-ownership role combines hands-on sourcing, candidate pitching, and closing with responsibility for helping the recruiting function scale.

Requirements

• Significant full-cycle recruiting experience and a proven track record recruiting for technical or engineering roles.
• Deep knowledge of the Bay Area and U.S. talent markets, including the ability to advise stakeholders on compensation benchmarks, market trends, and competitive positioning for engineering and GTM talent.
• Strong recruiting operations skills, including ownership of ATS data integrity, pipeline reporting, and process documentation.
• Experience working with global companies and stakeholders across regions and time zones.
• Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust and influence senior leaders, including executives.
• Strong proactive sourcing experience and the ability to build pipelines from scratch across disciplines.
• Strong candidate-selling skills, including pitching opportunities and closing passive candidates in competitive markets.
• An owner-operator mindset; self-directed, resourceful, and comfortable driving results with minimal oversight.
• Experience recruiting in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
• Clear written and verbal communication across organizational levels and technical and business audiences.
• Ability to manage a high volume of open roles across functions without sacrificing quality or candidate experience.
• Genuinely based in the posted San Mateo location; relocation may be supported for the right candidate.

Nice To Haves

• Experience supporting M&A integration or newly acquired teams.
• Prior recruiting experience in AI, developer tools, or enterprise software; preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Own full-cycle recruitment, from intake through close, for technical roles supporting the integration of the recently acquired Gitar company.
• Partner directly with engineering leaders to develop hiring strategies aligned with business priorities.
• Lead technical hiring for the Gitar team, working with engineering managers to define role scope, calibrate technical standards, and integrate new hires smoothly.
• Proactively source candidates and build robust pipelines across technical functions rather than relying only on inbound applications.
• Pitch Sonar’s mission and opportunities to passive candidates and act as a trusted advisor and closer throughout the hiring process.
• Manage a high volume of concurrent searches across multiple functions and levels while maintaining candidate experience and quality of hire.
• Identify opportunities to improve or automate recruiting workflows, including sourcing outreach and interview scheduling, to support efficient scaling.
