About The Position

The Senior Team Leader oversees operations of four residential houses and provides supervision and support to House Coordinators and Residential Youth Workers delivering day to day care. This role involves daily oversight and risk management of relevant houses to ensure a high standard of care and service provision. The Senior Team Leader drives implementation and adherence of CARE/TCI and Healing Matters practice standards to foster best practice, devises creative and flexible approaches to portfolios/house coverage, and works collaboratively on strategic recruitment and rostering in the best interests of the program. Additionally, the role has oversight of Care Teams who are supporting contracted Case Management targets. The organization is the state’s largest provider of Out of Home Care services, providing therapeutic care to young people across over 28 residential homes in Melbourne and Victoria. Within each house, a team of between 8 and 12 staff provide trauma-informed therapeutic care to young people, responding to their emotional and functional needs, developing their personal skills, and managing administrative requirements and household duties. The aim is to provide a safe and nurturing home environment while supporting the young people to be the best they can be.

Requirements

  • Tertiary Qualification at diploma or degree level in social work, psychology or behavioural science or equivalent.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification which is recognized under the Residential Care Workforce Training Initiative, and a willingness to undertake top up training to meet the qualification requirements of the Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (Residential and Out of Home Care).
  • Current First Aid Certificate.
  • Victorian Drivers License
  • High level knowledge of adolescent and child development and the theories relating to Trauma and Attachment as the aftermath of abuse and neglect
  • Highly developed skills in managing the challenging and confronting behaviours that arise from this; in a calm and consistent manner and modelling this to staff
  • Strong understanding of therapeutic support and crisis intervention.
  • The ability to provide strong leadership, direction and coaching to residential care staff.
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Prepared to undergo a National Criminal History Check prior to commencement.
