About The Position

SpeedX is seeking a high-caliber, bilingual Senior Tax Manager to join our team in either Los Angeles, California or New Hyde Park, New York. This is a full-time, on-site role for a strategic and technically strong leader with deep expertise in U.S. federal and state tax law, working knowledge of Chinese tax regulations, and a proactive, business-partner mindset. This individual will operate with significant autonomy, lead complex tax engagements end-to-end, and serve as a trusted advisor to Finance, Legal, and Operations leadership. The role is ideal for a CPA who can seamlessly navigate U.S. GAAP-based financial reporting alongside cross-border tax considerations involving the People’s Republic of China.

Requirements

  • Active CPA license (required)
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Taxation, or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting
  • Strong experience with corporate, partnership, and high-net-worth individual taxation
  • Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English (written and verbal) required
  • Working knowledge of Chinese tax law (CIT, IIT, VAT, withholding regimes, U.S.–China tax treaty)
  • Strong command of U.S. GAAP as it relates to income tax accounting (ASC 740, deferred taxes, valuation allowances, uncertain tax positions)
  • Proven leadership, critical thinking, and ability to manage multiple complex engagements simultaneously

Responsibilities

  • Lead the review of complex federal and multi-state tax returns for C corporations, S corporations, partnerships, and high-net-worth individuals
  • Drive year-round tax planning, entity structuring, and transaction advisory initiatives
  • Assess GAAP implications of tax positions, including ASC 740, uncertain tax positions, deferred taxes, and book-to-tax differences
  • Evaluate and advise on tax impacts of strategic business initiatives and operational changes
  • Provide guidance on inbound and outbound cross-border tax matters
  • Conduct advanced tax research and deliver clear, authoritative written guidance on complex regulatory matters
  • Apply working knowledge of Chinese tax law—including PRC Corporate Income Tax (CIT), Individual Income Tax (IIT), Value-Added Tax (VAT), withholding requirements, and the U.S.–China tax treaty
  • Advise on cross-border structuring, transfer pricing considerations, and repatriation strategies
  • Partner with PRC-based tax advisors and legal counsel to align U.S. and international reporting positions
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop mid-level tax professionals
  • Maintain final accountability for the accuracy and quality of tax filings, workpapers, and client deliverables
  • Foster a high-performance, detail-oriented team environment
