Senior Tax Manager, Asset Management

About The Position

KPMG's Asset Management Tax practice is growing, and this role offers the opportunity to take on a senior leadership position within complex investment fund engagements. As a Senior Tax Manager, you will lead sophisticated client mandates across the investment fund tax lifecycle, work directly with clients as a trusted advisor, and contribute to the development of people, processes, and service delivery within a technically demanding and evolving area of tax.

Requirements

A CPA designation is required
Minimum seven years of experience in public accounting tax and/or the investment fund or asset management industry
Strong understanding of, or demonstrated interest in, tax matters affecting the asset management industry
Experience leading teams and managing multiple, competing priorities in a deadline‑driven environment
Proven ability to design and implement processes that improve efficiency and quality
Strong technical judgment with the ability to anticipate issues and develop practical, cost‑effective solutions
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to engage effectively with clients and stakeholders

Nice To Haves

Completion of the CPA Canada In‑Depth Tax Course is considered an asset

Responsibilities

Lead large, complex investment fund tax engagements across the full tax lifecycle
Plan engagements and organize teams to deliver Canadian investment fund tax mandates efficiently and accurately
Review work prepared by junior staff and managers to ensure technical accuracy, completeness, and quality
Provide ongoing technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to support the development of team members
Apply technology‑enabled proprietary platforms to support operational and regulatory tax reporting, including Canadian fund distributions, annual compliance, and U.S. PFIC reporting
Act as a primary client contact, building strong relationships and operating as an extension of the client’s team
Identify opportunities to improve processes, manage risk, and enhance engagement delivery
