About The Position

The Senior Tax Manager (Contractor for 9 months) is a highly technical and execution-focused role. Brought on to provide critical surge support, this position will primarily lead the end-to-end execution of M&A integrations and handle ad hoc tax processes to support the company's strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • CPA, CA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in corporate tax, with a proven track record of managing end-to-end tax compliance and reporting in a multinational environment.
  • 3+ years of experience supervising or managing staff and/or external advisors, with a hands-on approach to mentoring and workload management.
  • Deep technical expertise in Canadian tax and strong working knowledge of transfer pricing, cross-border structuring, as well as employment and pension tax.
  • Understanding of standards within IFRS.
  • Exceptional technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills; proven ability to manage multiple deliverables under tight deadlines.
  • Must be authorized to work in the country where this position is located.

Responsibilities

  • Execute detailed components of complex tax matters, including tax due diligence, structuring documentation, and post-acquisition integration, under the guidance of the Tax Director.
  • Serve as a primary internal technical resource, providing accurate and timely tax analysis and support to Finance, Legal, and Business Units on project integrations and day-to-day operational transitions.
  • Apply strong working knowledge of cross-border structuring to ensure seamless integration of newly acquired entities.
  • Direct and manage the preparation and review of Canadian direct and indirect tax obligations (corporate income tax, VAT/GST, employment tax, pension tax, transfer pricing, withholding tax) to ensure timely and accurate filing.
  • Lead the detailed preparation and execution of the quarterly/annual tax provision cycle, including all supporting documentation, tax reporting disclosures, and the maintenance of uncertain tax positions.
  • Provide tax subject matter expertise and research on tax accounting issues.
  • Maintain current knowledge of accounting, legal, procedural and technology developments as they relate to the applicable legal entity.
  • Manage the day-to-day process for tax audits and disputes, ensuring documentation is audit-ready and coordinating information flow between tax authorities, external advisors, and the Tax team.
  • Execute process improvements and standardization across compliance and reporting tasks to enhance the efficiency and auditability of the tax function's core processes.
  • Drive the day-to-day use and adoption of new technologies (e.g., tax engines, workflow automation) implemented to streamline routine compliance tasks.
  • Ensure the quality and integrity of underlying tax data, including assisting in the creation and use of system-generated reports for tax analysis and compliance.
