About The Position

The Senior Tax Accountant is responsible for preparing and reviewing tax returns, with a focus on real estate partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, and individual returns. This role partners with outside CPAs, internal accounting teams, and investors to ensure accurate and timely tax compliance, supports tax aspects of real estate transactions, and conducts research to resolve complex tax issues and maintain compliance with current tax laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • 4–7 years of tax experience, with a strong focus on real estate partnerships
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Proficiency in tax preparation software preferably Lacerte and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with multi-state filings for real estate entities.
  • Familiarity with tax planning strategies related to real estate transactions.
  • Strong understanding of basis calculations and partnership allocations.
  • Ability to research and resolve complex tax issues.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review federal and state tax returns for partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, and individuals, primarily within real estate investment structures.
  • Coordinate and communicate with outside CPAs, legal counsel, tax professionals, consultants, and internal teams to ensure timely and accurate tax filings and resolution of tax matters.
  • Prepare tax projections, analyses, and supporting schedules for internal leadership and external investors.
  • Prepare federal, multi-state, and franchise tax returns, extensions, and estimated tax payments.
  • Monitor, research, and resolve tax notices and inquiries from federal, state, and local taxing authorities, coordinating responses with internal teams and external advisors as needed.
  • Conduct tax research and analyze technical tax issues to ensure compliance and identify potential risks.
  • Assist with tax planning initiatives and provide support for acquisitions, dispositions, refinancings, and other real estate transactions.
  • Maintain tax workpapers, electronic records, and supporting documentation while assisting with the timely distribution of tax documents.
  • Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.
