About The Position

The Senior Tax Accountant is responsible for overseeing U.S. federal, state, and international tax compliance while ensuring accurate and timely quarterly and annual tax provisions. This role partners with external advisors to coordinate provision activities and supports the preparation and review of federal, state, and local filings. Within a global logistics and transportation company, the position also manages international tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions, supporting tax considerations tied to cross-border operations, supply chain movements, and global entity structures. Operating in a complex, multinational environment, the Senior Tax Accountant leads tax-related projects, drives process improvements, and ensures adherence to evolving global tax regulations. The role also mentors junior staff and serves as a strategic advisor, providing insights on tax impacts, risk management, and regulatory changes. Additionally, the position contributes to special projects related to global expansion, restructuring, and operational optimization across a diverse international footprint.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 2+ years working in an accounting or tax department for a mid to large size company or public accounting firm.
  • Self-motivated and a critical thinker.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and friendly culture with a positive attitude and a professional demeanor.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications particularly Excel.
  • Experience working with auditors.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Accounting, finance, taxation
  • 3+ years experience
  • Researching technical tax accounting topics
  • A strong understanding of international tax.
  • CargoWise or OneStream experience a plus.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and review federal and state income tax workpapers and filings to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Coordinate with external advisors on quarterly and annual tax provision processes and related reporting requirements.
  • Assist with international tax compliance, reporting, and cross-border matters for a global, multi-entity structure.
  • Prepare tax account reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules for financial reporting.
  • Support tax audits and notices, identify and track tax risks, and partner with accounting teams to resolve issues and other miscellaneous tax matters as necessary including tax research and prepare technical memos and supporting documentation and process improvement initiatives, including automation, standardization, and enhancement of internal tax controls as needed
  • Maintain tax calendars and documentation, perform tax research, and support process improvements, automation, and internal controls.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
