About The Position

The successful candidate will be comfortable working in the day-to-day detail of tax planning, payment and filing obligations while also understanding the broader U.S. tax profile of the business. The role works closely with Corporate Accounting, Treasury, FP&A, Payroll, external advisors and the Group Tax team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or a related field; master’s degree in taxation, Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.
  • Six to nine years of combined corporate tax experience in public accounting and/or industry.
  • Experience with federal consolidated income tax returns and multistate corporate income and franchise tax compliance.
  • Working knowledge of state unitary, combined, nexus-consolidated and separate-company filing methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups and data analysis.
  • Strong tax research, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and communicate sound tax positions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet internal and external deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and confidence working across departments and levels of management.
  • Detail-oriented, organized and calm under pressure.
  • Collaborative team player with a strong work ethic, sound judgment and willingness to learn new areas.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with U.S. international tax matters, including BEAT, GILTI, Section 163(j) and transfer pricing, preferred.
  • Experience with federal and state fuel excise taxes or other indirect taxes preferred.
  • Experience with CCH Axcess Tax and Thomson Reuters Checkpoint or similar tax compliance and research platforms preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day operation of the U.S. tax function across federal, state and local income and franchise taxes, indirect taxes, excise and fuel taxes, business licenses and annual reports.
  • Prepare and review workpapers supporting the federal consolidated income tax return and state unitary, combined and separate company returns.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual tax provision calculations, tax forecasts, cash-tax projections and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and review monthly and quarterly federal and state excise and fuel tax filings, including fuel tax credit support.
  • Support U.S. international tax compliance and planning, including GILTI, BEAT, Section 163(j), foreign information reporting and transfer pricing documentation.
  • Manage tax notices, information requests and government audits, coordinating responses with internal stakeholders and outside advisors.
  • Research federal, state and local tax laws and document well-supported technical positions.
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisors, financial statement auditors and consultants, and monitor deliverables and deadlines.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen tax processes, controls, documentation and the use of technology across the function.
  • Partner with Accounting, Treasury, FP&A, Payroll and operational teams to obtain accurate information and communicate tax requirements clearly.
