About The Position

This role involves overseeing and managing various client projects, collaborating with team members, and supervising junior accountants. The position requires a strong understanding of complex tax returns for various entities and states, as well as expertise in estate and trust taxation. The Senior Tax Accountant will also be involved in financial planning for high-net-worth clients, leading responses to tax authorities, conducting tax research, and managing year-end assessments and quarterly estimates. Additionally, the role includes managing project workflows, client relationships, and team development, while also providing educational materials and webinars to clients. Strong technical tax skills and client relationship-building abilities are essential.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years (or more) of experience in public accounting with a focus on managing multiple projects.
  • CPA certification is highly preferred or required, with a broad knowledge of tax.
  • Familiarity with CCH Axcess Tax, Engagement, and QuickBooks software.
  • Ability to work well within a team, with skills in leadership and staff development.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Capability to solve problems and analyze information effectively.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage various projects to ensure client requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with team members at all levels during client projects.
  • Supervise and review the work of junior accountants across multiple projects, providing feedback and guidance on their performance.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior accounting staff.
  • Review complex tax returns for corporations, partnerships, trusts, and individuals across multiple states.
  • Prepare complex tax returns, including forms 1040, 1041, 1120, and 1065.
  • Understand estate and trust taxation.
  • Offer financial planning services to high-net-worth clients, focusing on estate planning, gift strategies, and IRA planning.
  • Lead the response to tax notices and audits from tax authorities.
  • Conduct tax research and offer training on various tax-related subjects.
  • Manage year-end tax assessments, quarterly tax estimates, and develop tax planning strategies.
  • Directly manage project workflows, client relationships, and a team of accounting professionals.
  • Provide educational materials and host webinars for clients as required.
