Requirements

  • CPA with understanding of tax accounting.
  • Real Estate accounting experience with strong technical background in partnership and individual taxation including progressive tax consulting experience in a public accounting firm or private organization and exposure to tax concepts including 754 elections and 743(b) adjustments, 704 special allocations, 163(j) interest expense limitations and elections, pass-through entity tax elections, and business loss limitations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Must be a self-starter, flexible and proactively drive results.
  • Strong multi-tasking, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong excel and tax software capabilities
  • High levels of integrity, work ethic, and dependability.
  • Although the candidate may not have expertise in all areas noted above, the expectation is that the candidate will be willing and able to learn about each of these areas and become a contributing member within a reasonable time-frame.

Responsibilities

  • Candidate will utilize analytical skills and familiarity of the tax law to minimize tax obligations and ensure the accuracy of various income tax filings.
  • Areas to be addressed will include real estate tax accounting and transaction issues along with individual, partnership, S corporations, C corporations, trusts, estate and gift taxation.
  • Ability to identify accounting method opportunities and assist with transactions is critical.
  • The senior tax accountant will work with the accounting, operational, legal and executive departments to develop both short and long-term tax minimization strategies.
  • Develop and implement tax planning strategies to reduce tax expense and minimize tax exposures
  • Prepare partnership, S corporation, C corporation, individual, and trust tax returns
  • Maximize tax loss carryforwards, bonus depreciation and Section 199A deductions
  • Assume expertise for new and emerging tax issues
  • Oversee preparation and review of tax projections for a two-year period
  • Identify and drive process improvement projects within the tax function
  • Maintain ownership of tax internal controls
