About The Position

The Tax Senior Accountant, working under minimal supervision, is responsible for organizing and coordinating tax data for the accurate and timely completion of business tax returns and tax accounting duties. This role analyzes and prepares complex federal, state, and local income and premium tax returns and reserves and assists with review of basic federal, state, and local income and premium tax returns, estimates, and extensions prepared by tax department paraprofessionals and tax accountants. This role mentors and guides tax paraprofessionals and tax accountants in completing various basic tax support tasks. The role also conducts tax research as needed while assisting with data gathering and analysis during regulatory audits. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Tax, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Economics, or a related field and/or commensurate experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares monthly federal tax provision based on SAP and GAAP, including calculation of current income tax expense, federal tax payable, and deferred taxes.
  • Maintains ongoing maintenance, monitoring, and knowledge of SAP and GAAP accounting practices, developments, and procedures as they relate to tax.
  • Assists in the preparation and review of multi state, multi-tier partnership tax returns, addressing contributions, distributions, allocation of tax items, capital account analysis, loans, special allocations, sales of partnership interest or assets, credit, and depreciation calculations, and winding up and dissolution of partnerships.
  • Prepares and/or reviews financial statements, reports, and records by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Assists with gathering and executing document requisitions during financial audits and federal, state, and local regulatory audits.
  • Performs tax research on recent tax developments and prominent legislation that may be impactful to the company and its affiliates.
  • Maintains and oversees the preparation of monthly, quarterly, or annual account reconciliations for selected tax accounts maintained within the tax department.
  • Performs minor bookkeeping duties including posting monthly journal entries, ad hoc querying of accounts, data migration from general ledger to tax software.
  • Works on quarterly and annual GAAP and statutory income tax provisions and annual financial statement presentation.
  • Mentors and guides tax paraprofessionals and tax accountants in completing various basic tax support tasks.
  • Conducts tax research as needed while assisting with data gathering and analysis during regulatory audits.
