About The Position

Blue & Co., LLC is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to provide tax compliance and consulting services to exempt organizations, foundations, and other tax-exempt entities. The role is part of a team specializing exclusively in exempt organization taxation and offers client interaction, professional growth, and the opportunity to serve organizations that strengthen communities. Responsibilities and client leadership opportunities are commensurate with experience. The position is open to qualified candidates anywhere within the firm’s geographic footprint and can be fully remote.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• At least 2 years of public accounting or related tax experience.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Ability to travel locally, with occasional overnight travel (less than 5%).
• Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

• CPA license or active progress toward CPA licensure.

Responsibilities

• Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for exempt organizations, including Forms 990, 990-T, and 990-PF.
• Assist with tax consulting projects and tax engagement planning.
• Research federal and state tax issues affecting exempt organizations, including tax-exempt hospitals.
• Prepare workpapers and supporting documentation in accordance with firm standards.
• Communicate with clients to obtain information, answer questions, and resolve tax issues.
• Respond to IRS and state tax notices.
• Manage multiple client engagements and deadlines.
• Use tax software and technology to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Stay current on tax law developments affecting exempt organizations.
• Manage day-to-day client communications appropriate to experience.
• Collaborate with a team dedicated exclusively to exempt organization taxation.
