About The Position

For more than 20 years, GigaKOM has delivered enterprise-level IT solutions to California K–12 school districts, higher education institutions, state and local government agencies, and commercial organizations. Through partnerships with leading manufacturers and technology providers, we design and deliver secure, scalable infrastructure solutions that support mission-critical environments. As organizations continue modernizing their infrastructure, cloud platforms, identity, and data capabilities, GigaKOM is expanding its architecture and consulting capabilities. We are seeking a Senior Systems Solutions Architect to design, support, and optimize enterprise environments across Microsoft cloud services, virtualization systems, enterprise infrastructure, and emerging AI-driven technologies. This role combines solution architecture, systems engineering, client consulting, and ongoing infrastructure support to help organizations modernize, secure, and optimize their IT environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 6+ years of experience designing and supporting enterprise IT infrastructure solutions
  • Strong expertise with Microsoft technologies, including Windows Server and Microsoft Azure
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), including identity governance and security controls
  • Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware and/or Hyper-V
  • Experience supporting enterprise servers, storage, backup/recovery, and hybrid environments
  • Strong understanding of system architecture, networking fundamentals, and security best practices
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting California SLED (State, Local Government, and Education) clients
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Azure Architect, Microsoft identity/security certifications, VMware certifications, or equivalent
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale or multi-client environments

Responsibilities

  • Design Cloud, Identity & Hybrid Infrastructure Solutions: Architect and design hybrid and cloud solutions using Microsoft Azure and related services. Design and implement identity and access solutions using Microsoft Entra ID (authentication, SSO, conditional access, MFA). Develop infrastructure strategies supporting scalability, resilience, and security. Guide organizations through cloud migration, modernization, and optimization initiatives. Design high-availability architectures for mission-critical workloads.
  • Data Center Solution Design & Architecture: Lead the design of end-to-end, enterprise-grade data center solutions that are scalable, secure, resilient, and cost-optimized across compute, storage, networking, virtualization, backup, and hybrid/multi-cloud environments. Translate business and technical requirements into future-ready architecture, aligning solutions with client digital transformation goals, operational models, and long-term technology strategies. Architect and integrate multi-vendor solutions leveraging Cisco, HPE, Dell EMC, VMware, Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Veeam, ensuring seamless interoperability and optimal technology selection. Develop high-level and low-level designs (HLD/LLD), architecture diagrams, and solution blueprints covering scalability, performance, availability, and integration points. Ensure alignment with industry best practices, security standards, and vendor reference architectures, while optimizing total cost of ownership (TCO) and risk mitigation. Incorporate hybrid cloud, automation, and modern infrastructure principles (HCI, SDDC, orchestration) to enhance agility, operational efficiency, and service reliability.
  • Virtualization & Modern Infrastructure Design: Architect virtualization platforms including VMware and Hyper-V (and related tooling). Design solutions for compute, storage, backup/recovery, and enterprise server infrastructure. Support modernization of legacy systems into hybrid or cloud environments. Optimize performance and resource utilization across virtualized environments.
  • AI & Advanced Technology Integration: Evaluate opportunities to integrate AI-driven services, automation, and intelligent data platforms. Design infrastructure capable of supporting AI-related workloads, analytics, and modern applications. Consult with clients on AI readiness, governance considerations, and infrastructure requirements. Integrate automation capabilities into enterprise IT strategies.
  • Client Infrastructure Support: Support deployed infrastructure solutions for client environments. Troubleshoot issues related to servers, virtualization platforms, storage, identity, and cloud services. Monitor system health and implement updates, patches, and performance optimizations. Ensure system security, reliability, and availability across client environments. Provide technical guidance and escalation support to clients and internal teams.
  • Client Consulting & Technical Leadership: Conduct discovery sessions to understand business and technical requirements. Develop architecture diagrams, solution documentation, and implementation strategies. Present technical recommendations to CIOs, IT Directors, and executive stakeholders. Serve as a trusted technical advisor guiding long-term technology roadmaps.
  • Collaboration & Solution Development: Partner with sales teams on solution architecture and technical validation. Contribute to proposals, RFP responses, and strategic technology planning. Support proof-of-concept initiatives and pilot deployments. Work closely with engineering teams to ensure successful implementation.
  • Documentation & Continuous Innovation: Develop technical documentation, architecture guides, and operational procedures. Monitor emerging technologies in cloud services, virtualization, identity, and AI platforms. Recommend improvements and modernization opportunities for client environments. Contribute to internal best practices and knowledge sharing.
