Senior Systems Security Engineer (SSE)

Integration Innovation, Inc. (i3)•Huntsville, AL

About The Position

Integration Innovation, Inc. (i3) is seeking a highly experienced Senior Systems Security Engineer to lead the integration of Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM) and program protection principles into a complex missiles portfolio. The role is the primary technical authority for ensuring critical defense systems are architected, designed, and sustained to resist advanced persistent threats and malicious hardware, software, or firmware supply-chain insertions. The engineer establishes secure design principles, anti-tamper solutions, and cryptographic protections. As a strategic technical advisor and mentor, the Senior Systems Security Engineer connects high-level program protection plans with engineering execution to safeguard vulnerable nodes across procurement, design, and development. The position works across program protection, systems engineering, cybersecurity, security, anti-tamper, and supply-chain risk functions, and communicates technical risks and mission impacts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. i3 is a 100% team member-owned mid-tier integrator headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama, with additional offices in Orlando, Florida, and the National Capital Region. The company works across national defense disciplines including systems and software engineering, modeling and simulation, training, cybersecurity, digital engineering, enterprise IT, and manufacturing.

  • Thorough understanding of the interplay between SCRM, SSE, and the DoW acquisition lifecycle.
  • Exceptional executive communication, briefing, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to translate complex engineering risks into clear, actionable, decision-ready briefings for non-technical leadership.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a relevant engineering discipline.
  • CISSP with Information Systems Security Engineering Professional (ISSEP) concentration.
  • Relevant DAWIA certification in Engineering or Systems Engineering.
  • Direct experience designing, implementing, or assessing protection measures for Middle Tier of Acquisition (MTA) and ACAT I/II-level DoW programs.
  • Eligibility for SCI clearance is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and implementation of the Program Protection Plan (PPP), integrating its tenets into the Systems Engineering Plan (SEP) and overall system architecture.
  • Architect, design, and oversee integration of security controls, anti-tamper measures, secure boot, and cryptographic components throughout the system development lifecycle.
  • Serve as lead technical advisor on hardware, software, and firmware assurance, including conducting and reviewing component-level supply-chain risk assessments.
  • Direct identification, assessment, and mitigation of vulnerabilities in Critical Program Information (CPI) and mission-critical functions.
  • Support decomposition of complex weapon-system architectures to identify CPI and vulnerable nodes.
  • Conduct complex weapon-system supply-chain mapping and identify and monitor SCRM risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Oversee analysis of supply-chain threat intelligence and assess and communicate the potential mission impact of identified risks to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with cybersecurity teams to align program protection measures with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and DoW cybersecurity policies.
