Blue Origin is pioneering the future of space-based communications with TeraWave, a revolutionary satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. This multi-orbit constellation will consist of optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO), providing enterprise-grade connectivity for critical operations worldwide. The TeraWave Chief Systems Architecture (CSA) Office owns the integrated technical picture for a multi-thousand-satellite communications constellation — system-level requirements, reference missions, physics-based system models, standards, and architecture compliance. Leverage comes from artifact ownership, clear decision rights, and domain architect engagement across all VP organizations. As a Senior Systems Integrator, you will be a key contributor to the operational cadence that drives system-level decisions from identification to closure. Working alongside Principal Systems Integrators and domain architects, you will help prepare and execute architecture compliance reviews, maintain system-level artifacts, support trade study convergence, and track actions to closure. You will develop a system-level perspective across domains while bringing depth in your own technical background to bear on real problems. This is not a domain engineering role, nor is it a program management role. You will work across domains — spacecraft, payload, silicon, software, ground, and operations — developing the breadth needed to understand how decisions in one area affect the whole. You are expected to ask hard questions, identify gaps, and flag when something doesn't add up — even when the person across the table is more senior. The role carries an explicit dual mandate, balanced approximately 70/30. The majority of your time supports current-system integration — contributing to compliance reviews, maintaining artifacts, and driving assigned trades to closure. The remaining allocation is dedicated to forward-looking concept work: participating in rapid technical feasibility assessments for new business ideas, constellation evolution paths, or novel mission applications. We intend to hire a small cohort across both senior and principal levels, deliberately assembling complementary technical backgrounds so the group can collectively span the breadth of the system and self-form into lightweight study teams. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or equivalent technical field; master's degree preferred.
  • 5–7 years of systems engineering or domain engineering experience in complex programs (space, defense, telecommunications, aviation, or electric vehicles).
  • Experience contributing to trade studies, design reviews, or technical decision processes — not necessarily leading them end-to-end, but demonstrating understanding of what makes a trade well-structured and well-closed.
  • Solid technical writing skills — ability to produce clear, accurate technical documents and decision summaries.
  • Technical depth in at least one relevant domain (spacecraft, payload/RF, software, ground systems, or network architecture) with demonstrated curiosity and ability to learn across domain boundaries.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in leveraging AI-assisted tools to accelerate documentation, analysis, and technical work.
  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to engage constructively with senior technical staff — asking clarifying questions, challenging gaps, and driving toward clarity.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in satellite, constellation, or telecommunications system engineering.
  • Exposure to architecture governance processes — compliance reviews, change control, or technical baseline management.
  • Familiarity with system modeling concepts (mission simulation, link budgets, orbital mechanics) and comfort working with model outputs even if not building models directly.
  • Experience producing or contributing to concept studies, proposals, or pre-Phase A assessments.
  • Breadth exposure beyond primary domain — e.g., a payload engineer who has worked interface definitions with the spacecraft team, or a software engineer who understands ground segment architecture.
  • Experience with space sustainability, debris mitigation, or regulatory compliance topics.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare materials for periodic architecture compliance reviews — gathering inputs from domain architects, assembling data packages, and identifying gaps against top-level system requirements.
  • Maintain and update the system-level artifact suite — architecture summary documents, performance budget inventory, decision records, and the architecture trades log — keeping them current, accurate, and accessible.
  • Drive assigned trade studies to closure: coordinate with contributing engineers, track progress, ensure analysis is rigorous, and draft documented outcomes for review.
  • Track actions from compliance reviews and trade decisions through to closure, escalating when progress stalls or dependencies are unresolved.
  • Monitor technical changes and requirement updates for potential impacts to system-level compliance; flag issues to Principal Systems Integrators or the CSA when cumulative effects warrant attention.
  • Support coordination of cross-functional trade teams — scheduling, capturing decisions, maintaining alignment across contributing organizations.
  • Translate outputs from integrated system models (physics, network, and operations simulations) into clear summaries that inform architectural decisions and compliance assessments.
  • Contribute to preparation of system-level positions for executive design reviews, risk reviews, and program-level decision forums.
  • Participate in rapid technical feasibility assessments for new business concepts or constellation evolution scenarios, contributing domain-specific analysis within multidisciplinary study teams.
  • Perform targeted technical analysis in support of concept assessments — bounding problems, running first-order calculations, and identifying the assumptions that most affect viability.
  • Draft concise feasibility summaries and supporting analysis suitable for executive review, clearly distinguishing what is known from what requires further study.
  • Research and synthesize technical literature, industry developments, or competitive landscape information relevant to concept evaluations.
