This is a customer-facing sales role that covers multiple states and may require approximately 50% of your time traveling. HPE Campus & Branch Specialist. Role Summary As a Senior Systems Engineer - HPE Campus & Branch, you will serve as an HPE Mist specialist partnering with the AI for Networking Seller and be the trusted technical advisor supporting HPE Territory Managers and Systems Engineers throughout the customer lifecycle. You will partner closely with HPE account teams to win new customers, expand strategic accounts, and ensure existing customers remain successful. You will lead from the front by driving technical discovery, architecture discussions, demonstrations, workshops, and proof-of-concept engagements. You will help HPE Territory Managers and Systems Engineers develop winning technical strategies, differentiate HPE Mist from competitive solutions, and guide customers from initial evaluation through successful adoption and operational outcomes. Success in this role requires deep technical expertise, strong business acumen, executive presence, and the ability to build trusted relationships across customers, partners, sales teams, Product Management, Engineering, Support, and Customer Success.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in Systems Engineering, Sales Engineering, Solution Architecture, technical consulting, or a related enterprise networking role.
  • Proven success supporting complex technical sales cycles, customer demonstrations, architecture workshops, and proof-of-concept engagements.
  • Deep knowledge of enterprise wireless networking, including RF fundamentals, industry standards, site surveys, high-density design, roaming, security, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong campus and branch networking knowledge, including Ethernet, VLANs, TCP/IP, Layer 2/Layer 3 design, routing, switching, multicast, QoS, ACLs, firewalls, segmentation, and resiliency.
  • Experience with identity and access technologies including 802.1X, AAA, RADIUS, EAP methods, certificates, SAML, and common client operating systems.
  • Experience designing and supporting large campus, distributed enterprise, and branch networking environments.
  • Hands-on experience with wireless design and validation tools such as Ekahau, Hamina, NetAlly, or iBwave.
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, Python, scripting, automation, cloud integrations, or Infrastructure as Code is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Executive presence and the ability to establish credibility with technical practitioners, business leaders, and executive stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple strategic opportunities and customer engagements simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and passionate about customer success, technical excellence, and winning as a team.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% based on customer and business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the HPE Mist technical specialist supporting HPE Territory Managers and Systems Engineers across strategic sales opportunities.
  • Partner with account teams to develop technical account strategies that drive new-logo acquisition, competitive displacement and customer expansion.
  • Engage early in the sales cycle to understand customer priorities, identify technical and business requirements, and align HPE Mist solutions to desired outcomes.
  • Provide technical leadership throughout the opportunity lifecycle, from qualification and discovery through design, validation, close, deployment, and adoption.
  • Build strong working relationships with HPE Territory Managers and Systems Engineers and operate as an extension of the account team.
  • Lead customer discovery sessions, architecture workshops, technical presentations, solution demonstrations, and executive briefings.
  • Translate complex customer requirements into clear, differentiated HPE Mist architectures and solution recommendations.
  • Communicate effectively with audiences ranging from network engineers and architects to IT leaders, CISOs, and CIOs.
  • Develop competitive technical strategies and position the unique value of HPE Mist AI-native networking against alternative solutions.
  • Create compelling customer experiences that build technical confidence, accelerate decisions, and improve win rates.
  • Own and lead HPE Mist demonstrations and proof-of-concept engagements from planning through successful completion.
  • Define clear POC objectives, success criteria, test plans, customer responsibilities, timelines, and measurable outcomes.
  • Configure, deploy, validate, and troubleshoot HPE Mist solutions in customer environments.
  • Partner with HPE Territory Managers and Systems Engineers to convert successful technical evaluations into production opportunities.
  • Document results, lessons learned, and reusable best practices that improve future demonstrations and POCs.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor before, during, and after the sale to help customers realize the full value of HPE Mist.
  • Provide architecture guidance, migration planning, deployment best practices, operational recommendations, and adoption support.
  • Proactively identify technical risks, adoption barriers, and customer health concerns, then coordinate the right HPE resources to drive resolution.
  • Partner with Customer Success, Support, Product Management, and Engineering on strategic customer needs and escalations.
  • Help maintain happy customers who become long-term advocates and references for HPE Mist.
  • Develop and maintain deep expertise across HPE Mist wireless, wired, WAN, access assurance, location services, cloud operations, automation, and AI-driven capabilities.
  • Stay current on product releases, architectures, competitive developments, industry standards, and emerging campus and branch technologies.
  • Be hands-on with design, configuration, demonstrations, troubleshooting, and customer validation.
  • Create and share technical content, design guidance, demos, best practices, and reusable enablement materials.
  • Contribute actively to the broader HPE Mist technical community and promote a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
  • Enable HPE Territory Managers, Systems Engineers, partners, and distributors through mentoring, technical training, workshops, and opportunity support.
  • Help scale HPE Mist expertise across the field by sharing repeatable sales motions, competitive insights, demo practices, POC methodologies, and lessons learned.
  • Support customer events, webinars, seminars, executive briefings, partner sessions, and field enablement programs.
  • Collaborate across HPE teams to ensure consistent positioning and a unified customer experience.
