About The Position

The Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities Surface Radars & Sensors Center is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to serve as Product Owner for an Agile team developing radar simulation tools for the Long Range Radars Department. This onsite position is based in Woburn, Massachusetts, and supports the AN/TPY-2 program. The Systems Engineering Long Range Radars department provides expertise in concept development, architectural design, requirements generation and flow-down, modeling and simulation, systems analysis, integration, test, and evaluation of missile defense and sensor systems. The Product Owner drives product direction and execution for a radar simulation tool suite, leads Agile ceremonies, manages the team backlog, and ensures technical integration. The role also oversees technical, cost, and schedule performance for assigned engineering scope; supports milestone planning, schedule development, earned value management, and risk and issue resolution; and develops and validates radar simulations using the Common X-Band Environment Development Tool (CX-EDT). The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to enhance digital simulations, analyze multi-mission scenarios, address radar performance issues, and integrate high-fidelity simulations into systems operated by other U.S. Government organizations. The position requires U.S. citizenship and an active, transferable U.S. government security clearance before the start date. The posting also states that the ability to obtain an interim U.S. government clearance is required before the start date. Relocation assistance is available. The salary range is $95,500–$181,700; eligible applicants may also qualify for incentive compensation and benefits, subject to applicable terms and eligibility.

  • Software development proficiency, including Python and C++, and expertise in MATLAB for data analysis and automation.
  • Proven experience with current Missile Defense programs, specifically involving large, complex systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with time-critical requirements.
  • An advanced degree (PhD or Master’s) in Engineering or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Drive product direction and execution for a radar simulation tool suite, leading Agile ceremonies and ensuring strong technical integration.
  • Own and manage the team backlog; define and prioritize features and translate them into actionable Agile user stories with measurable acceptance criteria.
  • Lead refinement sessions, break epics into estimable user stories, and define sprint goals aligned with program needs.
  • Oversee technical, cost, and schedule performance for assigned engineering scope within the AN/TPY-2 program.
  • Support milestone planning, schedule development, earned value management, and risk and issue resolution.
  • Design, develop, and execute verification and validation test plans for radar system capabilities within the CX-EDT simulation.
  • Review radar system designs and implement updates within the simulation environment.
