About The Position

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join the T&E Team. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience working with the Department of the Navy (DoW) acquisition and test and evaluation (T&E) communities. Desired experience includes systems analysis, test and evaluation (T&E), engineering management, and working with innovative digital engineering technologies including Artificial Intelligence (AI). As a senior member of the engineering staff for the office of Developmental Test, Evaluation, and Assessments (DTE&A), you will work within a team of engineers and warfare area experts to analyze and assess DoW acquisition programs and prototype efforts, focusing on technology issues, risk assessment, and accelerated capability delivery. You will use a holistic approach to review end-to-end systems and systems-of-systems oriented products throughout their entire life cycle. You will engage with programs across DoW to understand and assess issues impacting capability delivery, and assess risks related to acquisition program challenges, integrating these findings into DTE&A/SE&A Risk Assessments and other reviews. A key responsibility will be leading the integration of DTE&A approved digital engineering (DE) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to automate the development of analyses and risk mitigation recommendations within the organization. You will work closely within assessment teams to design and execute analyses, provide QA/QC guidance and feedback, and manage regular QA Reviews for DTE&A. You will discern and evaluate key requirements, test cases, and verification and validation efforts using available documentation, including digital products. Understanding key issues and drivers at various acquisition program milestones, you will assist in developing assessment plans appropriate for program status. You will regularly interface with other OSD elements, service offices, test activities, MDAP Chief Engineers, and industry experts. An expert understanding of DoW instructions and regulations impacting manufacturing efforts is required. You will lead the development of the DTE&A training program, ensuring staff are trained in modern techniques and tools, and develop and maintain a training syllabus for a 150-person staff. You will provide Systems Engineering and Developmental Test and Evaluation (DT&E) expertise in support of Major Defense Acquisition Programs (MDAP) and OSD policy development and review. Understanding high-level product development strategies and their impact on capability delivery is crucial. You will work with multi-discipline engineering teams to develop detailed analyses of prototypes and acquisition programs. Reviews of test plans/procedures, TEMPs, SEPs, ADMs, IMSs, and other acquisition documentation will be conducted to understand their impact on rapid capability delivery. You will provide expert input to emerging DoW policies and instructions related to capability delivery issues and be very familiar with emerging technology, digital engineering tools and processes, and AI impacts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 10 years of related work experience
  • Secret clearance

Responsibilities
