Senior Systems Engineer

This is a site‑based role, employees work 3+ days (60%+) per week from a Viasat office or work location within a standard five‑day workweek. This is a contingent/contract position. US Citizenship or Permanent Resident is required.
Requirements
- BA/BS in an engineering field or equivalent experience
- 5 or more years supporting enterprise server hardware
- 5 or more years Administering Linux Systems
- 5 or more years Administering VMware
- 3 or more years managing SAN storage
- At least 3 years of experience supporting Active Directory
- Over 3 years of experience managing Windows Systems
- 3 our more years experience with configuration management tools like Puppet, Ansible, Chef, or Salt
- Proficient in scripting languages like Bash, Python, and Perl
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Excellent networking fundamentals: Subnetting, VLANS, TCP, and UDP
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal instruction, balanced with the ability to seek assistance when needed
- US Citizenship or Permanent Resident is required

Responsibilities
- Supporting server hardware
- Managing SAN storage
- Coordinating VMware, Active Directory, LDAP, DNS, NTP, and syslog
- Using outstanding customer service skills to help support lab environments as well as production data centers
- Applying advanced Linux skills to bring up new infrastructure and applications to support our ever-growing needs across the enterprise

- Writing Puppet code
- Writing scripts in python and bash
- Supporting and collaborating with Viasat engineering teams
